Pearson's Bakery — Restaurant in Bloom Township

I usually go to the one in Homewood which I love but decided to try Chgo. Hts location since I was right there. It was my son's birthday. I got the cake that Saturday for the next day.What a huge mistake! It was so stale, it crumbled as it was being cut and tasted horrible, not sweet, and the frosting tasted like lard.I was so disappointed as all the guests threw their slice in the garbage.The birthday dinner party was destroyed because the cake was so pretty.I called that Monday to explain and wanted to bring the rest of the cake and receipt for a refund.I was put on hold and had to call back, the lady on the phone said there was nothing she could do and call back the next morning becuz the manager left and the only 1 to give refunds, day 2, manager left again, day 3 manager left again.....day 4, manager off tomorrow , the lady on phone very rude and irritated with me calling, no customer service skills and telling me she's the only 1 in the store so she has to get off the phone, no answers for me, except arguing that the cake was fresh.There is no date on the cake.Everyone who tasted it said it was stale and old tasting. I WORK IN FOOD SERBICE AND KNOW WHAT A FRESH CAKE TASTES LIKE! A VERY DISAPPOINTED CUSTOMER SLL I WANT IS A REFUND! TIRED OFF...

I've been going Pearson's since I was born. That's a very very long time! Saturday morning I was there with my mother, who has been going there since 1957. They have delicious Butter Crust bread, Swedish Rye with or without Caraway seeds. They usually have a good selection of sweet rolls, coffee cakes, etc. They have butter cookies that they've been making since I was young enough to get a free one if I behave myself in the store, iced sugar cookies which on Saturday morning were in both Cubs and White Sox themes. They had cake slices including my mother's favorite German chocolate cake and several other types. You can custom order a cake there. It is a small store with a fairly good selection , but if there is something you want you can call and they will hold it for you. I don't get there as often as I used to because I'm living in the city now. But if my mother's going I always have to go with her, just like when I was a kid. It's worth a short...

I searched for a bakery in the area who would deliver to my elderly Mother for her 84th birthday and Pearson's was the only one who would deliver to a single person. I wanted a dozen chocolate cupcakes with a true buttercream frosting. Marie who took my order was amazing. She hand delivered these beautiful cupcakes to my Mother at the exact time she promised. My Mother was so delighted and thought the cupcakes were too beautiful to eat. But once she bit into one with a hot cup of coffee, she had trouble stopping at 3. She had to freeze the rest to stop herself. It happened to be Marie's birthday also. I have put Pearson's in my phone and will be using them again.
