Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard — Restaurant in Bloomfield

I love Italian ices and although I prefer CJ’s Ices in Bayonne, NJ, my boyfriend and I decided to stop at the Rita’s on Broad Street in Bloomfield yesterday. He got a pint-sized cotton candy and I got a large Swedish fish/cotton candy mixed. Absolutely delicious & refreshing, though I notice Rita’s ices melt considerably quicker than CJ’s & Ralph’s in Staten Island. The service is quick & efficient though the girls who work there tend to have a habit of slamming the window in your face once the transaction is completed, not giving the customer an opportunity to say “thank you.” One cool thing about this specific Rita’s is Holsten’s across the street, where the final scene of the last episode of the Sopranos was filmed. I usually don’t come to this Rita’s but happened to be nearby. We ordered 4 items, all of which included chocolate custard and were not so nicely told that the chocolate machine wasn’t working. As we paid for our items, we saw another employee handing someone else a chocolate custard cone. We lightly joked about it but the girl helping us very rudely told us that sometimes it stops working for a few minutes and there was nothing she could do. Had we known this happens frequently and only takes a few minutes to fix it we definitely would’ve waited. The staff was very unfriendly and blunt and didn’t offer any assistance. I wanted to take the time to just say the manager Lucy and the staff are very patient and helpful. I had a dispute for a transaction for 50$ which I believed was from this location. Turns out the location I went to wasn’t even this store and the dispute was actually totally incorrect because my cc picked up a Rita’s location NEXT to where I actually went, a Greek restaurant next to them.
