Hoosier Hank's (East) — Restaurant in Bloomington

I just found out this place was even in town. This is where avers pizza and the best pizza buffet in town was located. So when I went inside I was surprised to see how this Hoosier Hank bison was somehow a super popular thing in Bloomington that I have never seen or heard of. Also their menu stated that they are the best in town but I don't know who exactly voted that because they've only been around for about a month and definitely not the best in town. Although the food was good enough The prices were way too high for the little amount that you received. So I support all local businesses and want to support this place as well I was just concerned with who and how this voting of the best in town came about. Also the history of Hoosier Hank I think starts about 4 weeks ago and I know you have to have a starting point for all great legends and icons and eateries but I feel like you have to let the people decide. Also they had merchandising t-shirts in the lobby and they were very nice trendy shirts that did not have a price at all on them and it was kind of difficult trying to ask somebody to tell me a price but with a just opened place like this competing in this town with pizza and stroms I felt like they should have been giving away their T-shirts with the Hoosier Hank on them by the handful and also telling everybody that walked in to take as many of the marketing footballs and stickers as they could and give 10% off or something of their order if they can text five people right then when they're ordering about Hoosier Hanks. We are in town for the weekend for a game and decided to give this place a try because everywhere was booked. There were only 3 employees working in the entire restaurant and they were trying their best, but this was not a good experience. We were sat and didn’t get to order drinks for a long time. They were out of almost all of the domestic bottled beers, but were kind and trying their best. We ordered food and waited at least an hour for our food. When our food came out, the server (who I believe is actually a kitchen employee) just put the tray on the table next to us and didn’t say anything to our table and walked away. We thought he was getting the rest of the food but never returned. Another employee brought out our salad and the buffalo mac entree. The salad had no dressing and the buffalo Mac was not fully done. My husband went in search of dressing for the salad and they said they were out of ranch (which they did not mention when we ordered) at this point he also asked to pay for our food because we didn’t know when we would see an employee again. The wings that we ordered came out with 4 traditional wings and the rest chicken tenders. They did give us a big discount on our bill, but the experience was not good. I do want to say that the employees were obviously overwhelmed with the situation. I felt very bad for them, but there is a SERIOUS management issue and they probably should have closed early...

My family just went there for the first time and it took forever to order our food and drinks and then we waited over an hour and finally asked our server if the food was going to be ready soon and he shook his head and said it was going to be a little bit longer. We responded with we’ve been waiting over an hour and we have a 4-year-old and my sister is pregnant so this is kind of ridiculous. (We were also one of two tables in the place plus one man at the bar.) He responded with “I know, but I don’t get paid to cook back there.” We waited a little while longer until my mom finally went up to the front to ask to speak to a manager. No manager was there and the cook told us he had 50+ DoorDash orders that he had to do first, so it was going to be awhile. We never got told an actual timeline on our food. I understand it’s family weekend for IU, but the customers in the dining room should not be on the back burner for orders, the online orders should.
