I rarely leave negative reviews, but I felt compelled to share my experience because it was truly one of the worst meals I’ve ever had at any restaurant, let alone one claiming to serve Indian cuisine.
From the moment we entered, the atmosphere was cold and unwelcoming. The staff showed absolutely no interest in greeting or assisting us—they barely made eye contact and wore serious, unfriendly expressions the entire time. There was no warmth, no hospitality, and certainly no sign of the service you’d expect from any decent restaurant, especially an Indian one known for its culture of generous and attentive service.
As for the food—it was a complete disaster.
The chicken was clearly not freshly prepared. It was taken directly from the refrigerator, thrown on top of rice in a takeaway box, and placed in the oven to reheat before being served to us. It tasted stale and borderline spoiled. The gravy in the curry was watery and completely lacking in flavor or spice. It felt like someone had just mixed water with a dash of curry powder and called it a dish. We couldn’t even eat it—we tasted a little and left the curries . We spent $100 for 6 members that’s not worth even a penny .
The naan was dry, hard, and felt like it had been reheated from a previous day. The chicken pieces were not only large and awkward to eat, but they also had a strange texture and taste, as if they had been sitting around for a while. To make matters worse, they didn’t even make an effort to properly cut or portion the chicken. It was simply dumped in without care.
The raita was the final disappointment—watery, bland, and clearly made without any attention to quality or freshness.
This restaurant does not reflect Indian food or hospitality in any way. If anything, it damages the image of Indian cuisine, which is known worldwide for its richness, depth of flavor, and warmth. I honestly believe they should consider removing the word “Indian” from their name, because nothing about the food, service, or atmosphere lived up to...
Read moreNo no...NO! This plant-based eater was driving across central PA and desperate for something other than another boring vegetable sandwich, so I veered 6 minutes off the interstate to drive into the pleasant college town of Bloomsburg. College towns often have some incredible culinary finds: this was NOT one. First off, there is no wait staff, so you eventually figure out that you have to go up to the counter to order from the menus back on the tables. (Imagine my surprise in being asked to tip...for waiting on myself!) I decided not to order any of the South-Asian dishes, because I was already getting a bad vibe about how edible this food was going to be. Instead, I ordered the falafel platter, because the hummus and baba ganoush was said to be made daily. Wrong move. I could not recognize the hummus as such. (I realize there are many regional differences, but this hummus did not remind me of anything I've had from good Israeli, Lebanese, Egyptian, or Greek restaurants...or that I make myself. The portion size was about 3 tablespoons. Despite the menu description, no baba ganoush was served but rather a tiny plastic cup of something white (Miracle Whip and ranch dressing mixed together?). The falafels seemed at least freshly made but were DRIPPING in oil, and the bread--enough for 10 times the amount of hummus served--was recognizeable neither as pita or naan and was also heavily buttered/oiled. The salad was a tiny plastic cup of shredded iceberg with 2 cucumber slices and one pink tomato slice (in August!) Afterwards, I was privileged to bus the table myself of all the disposable, unrecyclable plates, containers, and cutlery (truly shocking to find in a...
Read moreListen. This is place is legit. I wish I had pictures to post but the food was so good I couldn’t stop my hands from shoving the food in! Unfortunately - that put me in a food coma - but what amazing foodie dreams I had! Make sure to check out their reviews elsewhere (like Yelp- I just placed a review there, too) as they are definitely higher than these lame 1 star reviews from people who HAVEN’T EVEN TRIED IT!! (Whoa. Sorry for the outburst.)
This place rivals (likely exceeds) the Indian restaurant tours we have done in bigger cities (ie London). It really is something good when you see your children 8-13 years old scavenging for the last few drops/crumbs after the whole family finished (and yes they ate the actual food, too, not just the scraps)!
We had the chicken tikka masala, vegetable samosas, lamb kabobs, garlic naan and mango lassi. Each dish had its own personality making this restaurant’s food unique to the local cuisine scene. The garlic naan or rice mixed with the tikka masala hit the spot as a very traditional food our family is familiar with! The samosas were the size of my palms with a good kick - if spicy Indian food is not your thing, just be cautious (we happen to love it!). The lamb was a first (one of their Mediterranean meals) and my kids raved about that all night long (even as they were curtain calling at bed time - “Dad - wasn’t that lamb sooo good?!”). The lassi was a nice way to end the evening as well with a mild sweetness and balanced mango-yogurt flavors.
Im am very pleased and feel lucky to have this restaurant nearby! Overall, I’d order the exact dishes over again...
