Hess' Tavern — Restaurant in Bloomsburg

Good old Hess, it's been a staple of Bloomsburg, PA since 1889, making it, to my knowledge, the oldest bar in town. It looks like the quintessential old timey tavern. Upstairs, there is a long U-shaped bar in the front, with booths, tables, and pool tables in the back. On weekends, go downstairs to check out the basement bar, The Painted Pony Saloon. The drinks are pretty cheap, so you can make a night of it without plunging yourself into destitution. You can't beat it. Fair warning: Hess is, always has been, and likely always will be a smoking bar. If you are very sensitive to cigarette smoke, beware. Of course, this also means you can light up whenever you want if you smoke. So this could be a potential positive or negative depending on your perspective. Someone stole my jacket and instead of the establishment being considerate and attentive, they instead interrogated me about using the "wrong gendered" bathroom. It's 2022, but okay. Normally a great place to get a drink, have a smoke and relax, but beware of the bartenders. They seem to have no idea what they are doing usually and will charge different people different prices, we have been refused drinks when we tried to order 8 shots for a group, and they wouldn't serve us pitchers another time because "they don't do pitchers anymore" even though another group had pitchers.
