Update: yesterdays visit was a complete disaster. Came, sat down, and the shorter blonde haired woman in the solid colored pinkish/lavendarish shirt tossed our menus onto the table and walked off. Stayed on her phone 90% of the time we were there. When we placed our order, I asked for my grilled chicken fingers to be lightly cooked and my wife asked for hers to be be hard pressed, extra extra well done. She also ordered the two sides that came with it, one of those sides being green beans. When our order came out, she forgot the ranch my wife ordered for her chicken tenders, she forgot my wife's green beans, Andy grilled tenders were anything but tender. Hard and chewy like leather. No flavor whatsoever. Like chewing on a leather belt. Blah! She stood there texting on her phone and did not come back to the table to see if everything was alright with what we ordered, so I get up from my table, walk over to her behind the counter. And clear my throat to get her attention... she still got her nose buried into her phone. The other lady behind the counter had to call out her name to get her attention to come back over to the table to correct our order. I took a picture of the person on her phone. She's the one in the pinkish shirt on the left. The lady on the right ended up taking care of our drink refills and everything else. Our first server was just awful. Won't be back...
Read moreThis place is an absolute treasure! We were in Boaz for a wedding and dined here just before closing on a Friday night. Everything was still hot and fresh and served with care & kindness. The fried okra here is NEXT LEVEL. I have never had okra so perfect before. Flavorful, crisp, and completely free of that weird gumminess that is common when okra is friend in large batches and left to sit under a hot lamp at so many other places. For the main I had the hamburger steak with gravy & onions. Everything about it was exceptional. Fantastic cook on the hamburger steak, with a great crispy flavorful crust but still moist and tender inside. The gravy and onions were exploding with both rich flavor and a still great texture to the onions. They weren't just cooked down into oblivion and boiling in a pot somewhere for hours. The collard greens were super flavorful as well, with a deep and complex richness that I've never had before in such a humble side.
My ONLY COMPLAINT is that they wouldn't be open the next morning so I could come back for breakfast! haha!
Seriously, this place is just awesome. They have built a wonderful place with food that makes people happy. If I EVER come back to Boaz, this place will be...
Read moreA Diamond in the rough offering great food for unbelievable prices. We took a chance on stopping in here for lunch while traveling nearby and were so glad that we did. My wife and I both opted for burgers, hers with fries, mine with onion rings. They were very good! Moist, thick and flavorful…even the onion and tomato on them tasted so fresh!! And then finally!!! A place that doesn’t treat onion rings like they’re made of gold. I hate that most places only give you 5-6 onion rings in an order like they’re a rare, precious commodity. Boaz cafe gave a generous portion of onion rings with my burger, and they were crisp and tasty! There was so much more on the menu that sounded great and was priced great that we didn’t get to try. This is a spot that if I lived locally, we’d be at on the regular. The building and interior furnishings are not what I would call nice, but the food and friendly service more than make up for that! Do yourself a favor and drop in for some great food at a...
