Okay everyone, get ready for a full review! If Chipotle was good and good for you it wouldn't even come close to Bolay! Stumbled upon this amazing restaurant while walking around and getting to know the area. We were invited in as it was a training day for us. Coming from the food industry and guest (customer) service industries we always try to help people and businesses improve. Upon walking in we were first welcomed then introduced to their menu and everything was explained in detail and questions were answered. As we proceeded down the line (just like Chipotle minus the option of the tortilla) the items looked so fresh and smelled amazing. The base options range from Cilantro Noodles, Kale Salad, Quinoa, Baby Spinach, Forbidden Black Rice and Moroccan Basmati Rice. Next comes the veggies! An assortment of flavorful and colorful not how momma used to make Broccoli, Mushrooms, Brussels Sprouts, and Cauliflower. Then pick your protein! Another great looking assortment of deliciousness. From Lemon Chicken, BBQ Chicken, Pork Tenderloin, Tofu, Shrimp, Steak and Ahi Tuna. Top that BOL off with your choice of one topping and you'll be eating without guilt or the need to work off lunch or dinner at the gym. This is TRUE CLEAN EATING!
Enough about the food though, let's talk about the place, atmosphere and especially the people! The decor is a very modern, clean and sleek design that allows for a meal with friends, family or even a night out. Sit at a table, booth or bar. The music very upbeat and energetic but still at a volume that is tolerable for a nice "intimate" meal for two. Now what or shall I say who makes Bolay what it is. The team! Welcoming, personable, enthusiastic, energetic and fun. If that's what you'd like in a friend then you can say Bolay's servers, bussers, cashier's, cooks and entire team is friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, understanding and respectful.
Congratulations Bolay Boca Raton for a great team, product, atmosphere and place to eat healthy! I look forward to many visits to your location.
Yes this was a long review and like my friends know, I think this is my first ever review on FB. Needless to say, I was impressed. Of course this wouldn't be possible without the leadership of your management team...
Read moreI visit Bolay frequently, and one day my brother and I decided to try a different location. He said, “Let’s go before we head to the gym,” and I agreed. When we arrived, the food looked dry, but my brother said, “I just want to get something in my stomach.” He approached the counter and politely said to the young lady, “Hi, how are you? Can I have a large, please?” She seemed to have an attitude, but my brother remained calm and patient, even after he had to repeat his order three times. When she started making the bowl, he asked for double broccoli. She moved on and asked if he wanted a protein, and he responded, “Yes, teriyaki chicken—double, please.” Since we go to Bolay regularly, we’re very familiar with the portion sizes. However, the amount of chicken she served was noticeably less than what’s normally given—she didn’t even fill one spoonful and then asked, “Anything else?” My brother asked, “Is that double?” and she responded yes, even though it clearly wasn’t. The chicken barely covered half the rice. He then asked, “Is that all the chicken you have? Is there any more?” and she replied, “No, we’re all out. Do you want anything else?” At that point, he had already been patient with her attitude, but it was frustrating. It wasn’t even 8 PM yet, and they were already out of chicken? As we began to leave, a young man from the back called out, “Sir… sir!” But by then, my brother was already upset and chose to walk out. Before he left, he asked one more time, “Is there none in the back?” Her tone and overall attitude were what upset both of us. My brother doesn’t usually react to things like this, especially with women—he just walks away out of respect—but the experience was disappointing. If she was having a bad day, that’s understandable, but if you’re not in the right mindset to work, it’s okay to take the day off. Unfortunately, we won’t be returning to this...
Read moreMy wife and I stopped by Bolay on the way home from work, something simple but good for supper. Bolay’s food is more than just good, it’s GREAT, one of our favorite places to get take-out in the area.
Tonight, however, we left disappointed. Their customer service was far from great. We were rushed during our order which lead to the wrong food being prepared, The employee then implied that it was my fault for the mistake. She asked “do you want me to make a new one or just pick it off?” Having worked in the industry previously for years, I have the utmost respect for restaurant workers and allowed her to just pick the mistake off of the bowl rather than making a new one. There also were too many employees speaking to me at once causing confusion and making the whole experience just extremely overwhelming. The manager did not apologize or even acknowledge what was happening, in fact he was texting on his cell phone while wearing the same gloves used to keep the food sanitary. The only person who tried giving an explanation for their high strung performance and aggravated service, was the young woman who places the “add-ons” to the bowl, everyone else ignored the problem.
Overall, a simple takeout order to conclude a stressful day at work, ended up causing even more stress and ruining the small portion of my day that I get to spend with my wife.
She no longer has an appetite, and I’m left to pick around a bowl of food that I did not intend on ordering, let...
