The following was my review of a couple months ago. I have updated it at the end.
My husband and I have eaten at La Luna many times. The food has always been delicious. We brought friends with us who had never been there and we recommended it. It was one of the most embarrassing evenings I’ve ever experienced. It was an hour from the time we placed our order that we finally asked the manager what was going on, as we still hadn’t received our food. Instead of handling our question and discontent professionally, she told us that it was 45 minutes from the time we placed our order. She was very very nasty about that. She was incorrect, as at that point it was 50 minutes. 15 additional minutes went by and still no food. We asked her to come back. She was extremely nasty. Told us that she had larger parties that needed to be served. At that point the place was almost empty and there were no large parties to be seen. We asked her what she could do for us since it was now over an hour and we were still waiting. She said that she “won’t do anything for us because she’d have to do something for everyone”! We were in shock that we were being treated like that. She saw that. At that point she further added “Everyone wants something for free”! We were so insulted, and we told her that. Her name is Nicole. Nicole needs serious management training or needs to be let go. This was always one of our favorite places and we go there on a regular basis with our family who live at the Polo Club as well as with many friends. We will never be back as long as Nicole is the manager. I hope that people reading this will re-think dining there. There were a hundred other ways she could have handled this situation but chose to turn the table on the customers. We were terribly embarrassed. We raved about the food and the place to our friends. We’ll certainly never do that again.
Update: I called last week (first week of April) and was told that these horrendous people have been fired and new managers, hostesses and a new chef, along with the original, have been hired. Four of us tried it once again last night. It was wonderful in every way. The new hostesses couldn’t have been more pleasant. The new manager was so nice. Our waiter was very efficient and excellent. The food, as always, was delicious. (The food was the only reason I gave it two stars last time. I was told I shouldn’t have even done that, but I wanted to be fair, even though we have never been treated so poorly.) I’m thrilled that someone read and did something about these terribly negative reviews. I’m happy to be back, as are many of my friends. I reported back to...
Read moreAfter being a regular customer for around 10 years, we recently had a rude awakening from their new manager/partner. What a rude uncaring man. We had a 5.15 reservation- as we always have done, for their early bird special. We arrived at 5.17, joined our friends who had arrived a few minutes earlier. We ordered our usual, salmon with mixed steamed vegetables and lentil soup, which arrived ice cold ! The early bird special comes with soup or salad and a desert.
When the time came to order desert, our waiter told us that as we came after 5.15 we were not eligible for the early bird !!! Really - we came at 5.17 ! Besides, we were never told that they had changed the last order time for early bird. It was always 5.30 cut off time. The waiter called for the manager, who it turns out had recently become a partner after Freddy left. He was rude, blatantly scolded us for arriving after 5.15 and couldn’t care less that we were never advised of the new 5.15 cut off time. He especially didn’t care that we came at 5.17 - 2 lousy minutes after his so called magical 5.15 cut off time. He also didn't care that we were long time regular customers- who helped them stay afloat during COVID - when we were often one of 2 or 3 tables occupied!!
Our waiter told us that this manager/partner had fired a couple of waiters who offered early bird prices to customers who came a few minutes after the “new” cut off time. I felt bad for the remaining staff, who now have to work for this “Gentleman” !!! The food, by the way, was only adequate. It’s always been this way, but for the relatively low early bird price, we put up with it. The regular menu is way overpriced for the quality - really lack of quality. We also really liked the waiters who were like family to us. After the manager/partners rant, I told him that this would be our last meal there after such bad treatment. He didn’t care. No apologies, he just walked away. We bid our farewells to a few old waiters, who I doubt will have a job soon.
During our meal we noticed the restaurant was almost empty. Now we know why. Bad, rude management, average food and high prices equals customers going elsewhere.
Bottom line - go to any one of the hundreds of other nearby restaurants, who will appreciate your business and provide...
