We stopped in late on the way back from Branson. The staff was more than willing to still serve us and was so nice and pleasant. The portions are HUGE. We didn't realize or would have considered sharing since we had several hours before we got home. We had tue potato skins for the appetizer. They were crispy, cheesey loaded with bacon, and still plenty of potato. (We did not need this because of how big the meals were, lol) Our party had the tenderloin dinner, tenderloin sandwich, and garlic crusted prime rib. The tenderloins were thick, crispy, seasoned well, and giant, just as a tenderloin should be. The prime rib was seasoned so well. It was like butter and just melted in your mouth. For sides we had green beans; these were also seasoned perfect with plenty of bacon and pepper, Mac and cheese; not a group favorite lacked flavor and wasn't what we expected out of mac and cheese, mashed potatoes; personally this is how I like my mashed potatoes, chunky with some of the skin, and French fries; they were crispy, hot and decent fry. Two of the dinners came with rolls, also not a fan of them. it just didn't match the standard of the rest of their food. Overall, it was a great experience, and we will be back to try other menu items.

Flat Creek - Bolivar, MO: A Hidden Gem with Big Flavor and Warm Hospitality Flat Creek is an absolute must-visit! From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with a warm, small-town welcome that instantly makes you feel right at home. The staff is incredibly friendly, attentive, and genuinely seem to enjoy making your dining experience a great one. The portions are huge—seriously, come hungry or be ready to take some home! Whether you're digging into their famous fried catfish, juicy burgers, or hearty comfort food classics, you're guaranteed to leave full and satisfied. What really stands out is how affordable everything is, especially considering the quality and size of the meals. It’s rare to find a place that delivers on flavor, service, and value all at once, but Flat Creek nails it. And the rustic, cozy atmosphere? Perfectly fitting for a laid-back meal with family or friends. It has that charming, down-home feel that makes you want to sit and stay a while. Highly recommend Flat Creek for anyone passing through Bolivar—or even if you’re a local. This spot is well worth the trip!

If you're looking for cheap food with low standards, this is not the place for you. However, if you're looking for high grade fresh food and professional service, you've come to the right place! Just bring your appetite because these portions are built for hungry truckers and breastfeeding moms. You will not leave here hungry I can promise you that. My husband ordered the catfish basket. It included 3 fried catfish filets that were 5-6 in length and 1 1/2-2 inches thick. Each. The meal also included 2 4 oz hush puppies, 4 oz of coleslaw, and 10 oz of seasoned fries. He scored it a 10/10. I ordered the 3 cheese and bacon burger. It came with 12 oz of fries, but the burger was monstrous! Definitely needed both hands to hold it. The burger itself was cooked to order, perfectly seasoned, and absolutely delectable! We took what we couldn't eat home, along with a 1lb slice of carrot cake. All in all we payed $50 for everything and took half home. Our wallet is lighter but we had lunch and enough for dinner tonight. 10/10 will be back!

UPDATE: The district manager reached out to me and offered a sincere apology. He made no excuses (which I appreciate), told me how he intends to improve future experiences for guest and made a nice offer to make it right by us. That genuine conversation to hear me out, apologize and make it right is huge in my opinion. Because of his sincerity we will give them another chance. I'll do another review after our next visit. For now I am increasing my stars to 3. Hopefully the next visit will be 5 stars.

We made the drive from Springfield to the Bolivar location excited to try Flat Creek for the first time. Our excited turned into concern if we'd made a mistake within the first few minutes. The hostess wasn't friendly she just asked how many. She took us to a dirty table and said she'd clean it, I told her we'd prefer a booth and she said they were all dirty. Which didn't make sense since the table she took us to was dirty. So I said we can wait. She walked away leaving us in the way, she was annoyed while cleaning the booth, she walked back by us and "dropped" the food baskets and trash at our feet! Then she just walked away! The waitresses were looking at her trying to figure out what was going on. She finally came back and took us to the booth. I said thank you and she completely ignored me. So instantly we felt uncomfortable. Our waitresses took 20 minutes to even come to our table. Then when she did come over she'd leave!! She said "just a minute" "oh I forgot my pad" "I'll be right back" Multiple excuses to just keep putting us off. Then when we did finally order she said they were out of the food we wanted. So we made a different decision. Then 10 minutes later she comes back and said she forgot to ask what I wanted in my basket 3 way. I didn't understand because the basket literally comes with 3 preselected items. She's like oh yeah never mind. A different waitress asked if we needed drinks since our waitress never brought any. When our food did arrive it was not correct, my husband ordered mac n cheese and received green beans. I asked for ranch and it was brought near the end of eating. It was the worst ranch ever! It was like dishwater was put in it. My fries had sat for some time because they were luke warm and limp. It was obvious that we were not welcome, not a single friendly staff member and we left in a terrible mood. We spent over a $120 just to be treated like we were a bother and the food was not worth it. Very disappointing, I really wanted to like this place, but I will never go back and I do...

Darn, i so want to love this place. We have been twice. We went last month and the chicken was so so.. No flavor. They don't let you know that they put bacon in green beans or pork in the white gravy .We don't eat pork! Anyway we went tonight and my husband ordered the chicken nachos, and they were the worst we ever had ( he had me try a bite) They came out cold...and chicken and tortillas were hard. And the melted cheese on top was kind of hard and icky. Like it was sitting for awhile..so we told our waitress .. her response was she was sorry.. Myself as a server since i was 16 and have owned a little cafe in the 90's ( I am now 60) , I would've said," hey can I get you something else.. or can I bring you some hot nachos".. So my husband said, could you get me hot queso and that might help them .. So then he asked for salsa, and we got shrimp sauce . ( we never said anything to the sever ,, because we didn't want to sound like we were griping ) I've waitress all my life since I was 16 years old ..and I always come right back just to make sure somebody's food is OK ,right after i bring it.. I am so sorry to complain on the food, but those nachos were just horrible. I used to live in Branson..( we drive from Wheatland Mo now) so I was used to the Cape fair Flat Creek, and the food was always amazing I hate paying $15 for something that wasn't good at all.. I Don't want to complain on this place, because I do like their fish.. even though I ask for extra crispy and it always comes out very soft.. . Wouldn't suggest Nachos, or the FF.. Because I had cold yucky old FF .. I did ask the server if I could trade it for something else and she didn't say anything ..so she come back with a fresh ( her words) basket of fries and there was at least 4 long fries.. I couldn't even break and I even showed her that . They had to of been sitting in the back of the house, and totally over cooked. I never asked for a manager. I didn't want to get the young girl in trouble,.. or to seem like I just complained.. ( i've had a little café before, so I know how hard it is to find cooks that care what they put out) But we went there twice now, and I was just hoping for a good experience.. because I talked my husband into going there tonight. He did say honey I'm sorry but I wasn't impressed last time I told him he probably should've ordered the brisket sandwich ,because somebody said that was really good.. I'm so sorry for this review. But...

We went to the Flat Creek in Branson about a year ago and remember that it was pretty Ok. Nothing really to brag about. We have a sailboat on Stockton Lake and started to stay in Bolivar, Mo. Noticed that there was a Flat Creek here and thought to give it a try, the second time was a bit better and liked the big portions and thought we would be back on our next visit to the lake. This time was very terrible. They first sat us on the bar side under a vent that was blowing very hard and asked to be moved. They moved us to the dinning side, which was much nicer. It took 15 mins for our waitress stop to take our order. About 10 mins later my girlfriend got her salad; which was kind of slow; but was ok since she was able to eat. Then we waited like 40 mins for food to come out and it was brought out by another waitress and we never saw our waitress again for another 20 mins. Our bake potato’s came out with sour cream and we both order butter. Out waitresses did not even come back to check up on us and did not see her until she brought out some food to another table and still could not get her attention for over fifteen minutes. Finally I have to get the attention of the waitress helping the table next to us to get butter. She told us that she would tell our waitress, but still nothing. The other waitress came back to see if we got butter, and then told she would get it. Then our waitress come out with like three dressing full. I just don’t understand why people think that by bring out tons more than what you need, makes up for not getting any and waiting a long time to get what should had gotten in the first place. She did not even apologize and just said that the other waitress was better. Really tell me something that I did not figure out on my own. Most people was leaving and by the time we got our to go boxes and check. The table behind us was on their second set of customers and was leaving at the same time we were. I was contemplating on only leaving a 5.00 tip, but did not want to be a jerk and left 15 percent, as were I am a very good tipper, and normally do a min of 20 percent. I am sure it may not really mean anything to management but I will...
