I must admit, we were enticed by the 19.95 Summer Specialsā¦and were NOT disappointed. We both had the grouperā¦and it was a large (8oz) portion and included 2 sides (no saladā¦but we ordered a small side salad a la carte, and it was more than large enough for the two of us) This was the best price for a grouper dinner weāve found in Naplesā¦and it was excellent; well prepared, with delicious sides. The service from our server, Pam, was attentive and friendly and both she and one of the owners (recognized from a photo in the newspaper) frequently stopped by to see how we were doing.
We usually eat late, but we stopped by this evening at 5:00, (before our Trader Joeās run) and chuckled when we were asked if we had reservationsā¦as the dining area was nearly empty and the outdoor seating only had a few tables filled. We were soon eating crow, as the place filled up in just minutes.
After thoroughly enjoying our dinner, we understood why, and will make reservations when we return. The only negative note was the bread. We bake our own, and enjoy seeing what others do with theirs. The menu said āBread on requestā so we requested some. Two slices of bread (commercial wheat?) cut in half.
It actually would have been better if bread wasnāt offered. Maybe charge a few dollars and put bread on the table worthy of the food and service. I know weāre nitpickingā¦.but if you love bread, as we do⦠youāre...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreParty for two on a Saturday night. Nice location with plenty of parking. Nice upscale atmosphere with plenty of outside seating. Very nice menu with a great selection of both seafood and meat. Friendly but very slow and forgetful service tonight. Had to wait a while before anybody came by to offer us drinks. I got a Mai Tai which was super strong, which many people would probably like but I prefer a tasty one not overwhelmed by booze. The New England clam chowder was outstanding! Great with a little Tabasco and crackers. I love clam chowder and this may have been one of the best I've ever had. I had to ask for some extra crackers and a basket of bread which came far too late and long after I finished my soup. I ordered a seafood trio grilled that came with grouper shrimp and scallops. It was mostly fine but the scallops could have definitely been done better. Honestly nothing special. I got two sides included, very good Caribbean rice and absolutely excellent sweet potato fries for an upcharge. If you like sweet potato fries definitely get them here. Although I had a lot of good things to say about this restaurant the service contributed to the only three-star review and it's never a good thing when the sides are better than...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is my second review for Naples Coastal Kitchen. Our first visit was abysmal, and this one was only marginally better, but only because this time, someone actually took our order (The first time we were here we waited for an hour and no one ever acknowledged us). However, we then waited 50 minutes for our entrees. Our server passed by once and said he would check on our food, which he did after another 10 minutes passed. When our food arrived, my order was wrong (not only wrong, but it contained shellfish, to which Iām allergic). I sent it back, and our server took it off the ticket and discounted my husbandās meal 20%, which is something. We simply couldnāt chance waiting another 50 minutes for a replacement entree, so I left hungry. It should be noted that my husband had ample time to finish his dinner in the time it took for our server to amend our ticket.
I was able to observe the pass and the kitchen the entire night, and I have to say the bad/extremely slow service falls squarely on the shoulders of the Executive Chef. Food sat on the pass for up to 15 minutes. We had high hopes that our first experience was a fluke, but sadly, it wasnāt. We will definitely NOT be returning. I will most certainly warn people away...
