If you're driving through Boonesboro or coming back from Antitem battlefield and need something to cool down that sweet tooth they're giving away smiles and tasty treats at Potomac Street Creamery. We came on a Friday afternoon and the inside still wasn't open but the walk up window was. With only a short line to ponder my flavor I heard they make their own waffle cones. So I ordered that along with one scoop x3 for our group, it came to about $8.50. Make sure to bring that cold hard cash because this window doesn't accept cards. I got the Roadrunner Raspberry which is white chocolate ice cream swirled with red raspberry and raspberry filled dark chocolate chunks! Yum! It was a super refreshing flavor with a sweet kick, although I didn't feel the base tasted much like white chocolate but the cone was super light and crispy so eat it fast. They also have shakes, sundaes, and sno-cones and the scoops were BIG! The local park (Schafer) is even right down the street (Park Ln) if you want to take the kids or play and eat.

My first visit here they were closed though I was within their hours posted. Another potential customer started that is not entirely out of the ordinary. My second visit was not a good one. I have concerns regarding food safety. The chocolate ice cream has gone through the freeze thaw cycle to many times for these size ice crystals. How long and how often was the ice cream left out or is the freezer intermittently broken? The cashier handles foods and money skipping gloves and hand washing. Cute undated sign on jukebox. Sadly I do not anticipate a third visit.

I really enjoyed my stop at Potomac Street Creamery. The ice cream and cones were tasty and fresh. The ladies working there were awesome! I would definitely stop here again if I were ever back in this direction. It was a great place to take a break after hiking the battlefields.

We went here for the first time today as part of the Washington County Ice Cream Trail. Potomac Street Creamery has been in Boonsboro for many years and has been well-loved by many. It didn't disappoint! I appreciated that they had off-street parking and a place to eat outside with tables and umbrellas. They carry Hershey's ice cream which is the BEST ice cream in my opinion. What really stood out to me though was the amazing customer service. I'm not sure if it was the owner that waited in us but she was fantastic! She was calm and cheerful with large groups of kids, she asked which flavor you preferred on the bottom/top, she didn't get frazzled with a long line out the door, and she wanted to make sure each person's ice cream came out the way they wanted. Highly recommend! Plus you can walk around and see the cool town...
