My family was looking forward to this place. However it was hugely disappointing. I stopped by at 4:30p and was going to make a reservation for 7P. and was told, we take reservations 24hrs in advance and we could not make a reservation. My family came back at 7p and was seated at a table next to the kitchen. Traffic and a draft made that unenjoyable, not a good start. Our server seemed disinterested and did not genuinely care about what was going on at our table. When ordering, we were told that they were out of Modelo beer, how does a Mexican restaurant run out of Mexican beer?? I asked for a Sweet Tea, and was told “Sorry this is Boonsboro, we don’t have Sweet Tea here”. Since when?? I have live in Boonsboro most of my life and Sweet Tea has always been a staple, and can be found in most restaurants in Washington County. We order the Nachos for an appetizer and it was not bad at all, probably the best thing any of us had all night. A server came by and asked us “ if we needed any to go boxes?” Our food hadn’t even arrived yet. My brother ordered a beer(Dos Exis) which never showed up. My wife ordered a spinach chicken burrito which she said there wasn’t much chicken and it wasn’t seasoned at all. I ordered the Combo Fajitas with Flour tortillas. I was told the shrimp would have tails on, kinda odd for fajitas, but no biggie. The name is “Sizzling Fajita”, however my combo Fajita arrived not sizzling at all, I would say maybe microwave warm at best, with “corn tortillas”, after I was asked which kind I wanted(flour). I would have to agree that the fajitas lacked any seasoning. My wife did say the Mango Margarita was pretty good. The atmosphere was about the same as it was for Dan’s lack luster and looked more like a high school project than a professionally run restaurant. I would not recommend this place to anyone I like. Sizzling Fajita is a hard pass for me for any...
Read moreThis place has potential. The food was great, although was not presented as well as it could’ve been.. My steak fajita salad was served on a plate too small for it which made it difficult to eat. It also was served with plastic Togo sauce cups instead of actual dishes. It had great flavor and the taco shell was crispy! The burritos have shredded cheese on the top of them, instead of an authentic queso which we didn’t really like. However, the burrito itself was delicious and not a piece was left in any of the plates. The servers/food runners may need to spend some time learning what the dishes look like. At first the food runner said she had 3 cali burritos, we told her we didn’t order those but had ordered steak and chicken. She then says yeah that’s what I meant they’re steak. But we again said one should be chicken, to which she said “oh yeah it’s chicken just steak on top”. they all ended up being what we ordered
Our children quesadillas were yellow cheese and frozen waffle fries, a very small portion of fries I should add. The kids meal came out cold, but the rest of the dishes were served hot. The service was good, but seemed like a lot of young kids running the place themselves. No trays being used to serve drinks, and a few servers stopped to check on us which made it confusing as to who was actually helping our table. I had requested a nonalcoholic drink (mocktail) and the server told me sometimes the bartenders are grumpy about making those so that was quite a turn off considering you just omit the alcohol.
Overall we would likely try this place again in a few months. With some simple upgrades (plate sizes, presentation and quality), as well as more training for staff (proper use of tray and serving dishes), this will be a nice addition to...
Read moreI have very high hopes for this place but they’re simply not ready to function yet.
I order a take out meal that they said would be ready in half an hour… an hour and fifteen minutes later it wasn’t ready and the host/ kitchen had no idea when it would be ready.
One member of the bar staff was nice enough to ask me if I wanted a drink but other than that I saw customers waiting for tables for extended periods of time even though no one was sitting there.
As someone who has worked in the service industry I understand there is a learning curve but this was simply terrible. I sincerely hope they are able to figure this out but for now my family will stick to ordering from Maria’s in...
