This place needs help. The first and last Iron Skillet that I'll dine at. I was going to have the food in my fridge (I should've done that), but I decided to give this Iron Skillet a shot. When I looked for a place to sit down, there weren't many choices as a majority of the tables haven't been cleared up to that point. When I asked the young waitress politely to clear the table, she had an attitude a shoved the dinnerware to the side. No guest should have to dine around filth; that is unsanitary to say the least, so I don't think I was being unreasonable when I made that request.
I ordered grilled porkchops, mashed potatoes, and a salad. The salad came first. The lettuce was soggy and to add insult to injury, it was smothered in cheese. I will never understand why some eating establishments put cheese on salad. It's salad, not mac & cheese. Vegetables and fruits only, please. There was only one cook in the kitchen, so my order took a very long time. When the meal finally came out, the porkchops were incredibly salty and the meat was overcooked. The mash potatoes were cold, and the toast that came with the dish was as hard as a rock. All of this for $25-$30; I couldn't believe the outrageous prices. I felt like I was back in elementary school eating lunchroom food. Seriously; there's an Arby's right here at the truck stop; I would've gotten more for my money and I wouldn't be feeling sick to my stomach right now.
This restaurant needs leadership; everyone is just running around aimlessly, complaining about their job rather than actually doing it, the kitchen NEEDS help; it's unacceptable to have only one cook in any food establishment and the quality of the food needs to match the price, OR the price of the food needs to come down drastically to match the current quality of the food (at the very least).
I strongly suggest that you skip this Iron Skillet at the Petro here in Bordentown, NJ. The owner needs to stop apologizing online and actually come down and address these problems directly. If not, I don't see this restaurant surviving...
Read moreYesterday was the problem at the fuel Island did any have nobody to serve the food 5:30 in the morning now today is in the restaurant where in the buffet the French toast and the pancakes there were burn and they still serve them like that ask the waiter to bring me some fried eggs and then I waited or 50 minutes I finish eating and then she came and asked me if I still wanted the order of the fried eggs and tell him it was to me anyway I was about to leave definitely the service have changed a lot from the time that started driving 30 years ago instead of the customer service goes up is going down and what time they're going to change all these restaurants into fast food something that I really wish it would not happen but he's already happening in most of the truck stops people don't realize for most of us the truck stop is our second home this is way we conduct business we eat we sleep we take showers and everything else on the quality is going down the hill and the saddest thing is that nobody cares at least that's what I see out here the other day I voted attention to a manager hello there was no coffee orphelin the grills and he was looking at me like I was coming from another planet I told him twice I was just looking at me and I asked him if he understood what I was telling him I just was standing in front of me when he came to realize that was actually my question he tried to look interest and then I'll tell him that you know what don't worry about it I just take my business someplace else are you just didn't say it like he didn't care unfortunately like I say the quality and their customer service have cold down the hill hopefully with this coming somebody with listen and it will do something about it oreillys make believe they...
Read moreMe and my fiance hopped in the car and came from all the way across New Jersey just to stop at this place to have an early dinner, something we do sporadically, kind of like a bucket list or so to say. I'm so glad that he brought me here, he's originally from out this way and I am not but he wanted to share this place with me, and if this isn't such a fabulous little hole in the wall type place I don't know what else is, you walk in, you could sit yourself, they have some good tunes on the radio, you're immediately made aware of, The Host, waitress, who had taken our orders, was the nicest person ever, she went above and beyond to make sure that we were happy and had everything we needed before our meal up until we left, it gets busy, which is a great thing, the seats are actually set up so even if it is busy it doesn't feel like you're in a crowded place, it has a very nice atmosphere to it, everybody is friendly here, everyone smiles at each other or gives a little wave, it's a very family-oriented place and the food is amazing, it's almost like a country style buffet type taste, like a old home cooked meal that your mother with me and it was just simply wonderful, we ordered a lot of food actually and we shared a little bit of everything and the price, is amazing, you really can't beat it and I can't complain one bit I'm so glad that my fiance brought me here because I will always remember it and I highly recommend you giving it a try.
