Donna's Cakes — Restaurant in Boston

My personal experience with this place was very positive until I picked up my cake. The person that took my order over the phone, was awesome. She asked lots of good questions and we even looked at the website together as I admired their Koala cake in the kids cake section. Excellent customer service.

They have a completely nut-free facility which is great for those that have to worry about that. Another plus was the not having to refrigerate the cake. Very convenient.

I asked for a Hallie the hippo cake (Doc McStuffin).The cake looked decent,  my 16 yr-old said it "almost" looked like a Temu cake but it didnt, it made the cut. It was fine, you be the judge (see pictures).

The problem was with the ears. I wasn't looking for ears as big as the Koala but I definitely expected a little bigger. It was a bit disappointing for me. My niece knew who it was, thats all that matters I guess. As far as flavors, we chose very basic vanilla and chocolate layers with buttercream. It was exactly that. Someone asked me if I got the cake from MB 🤦‍♀️ I pretended I didnt hear that. The cone hat...fell apart. All the little sprinkles were falling all over the place and it disconnected from the cake.

I'm undecided if I would order from here again. Clearly they wont miss my business, sounds like for the most part people are happy with their cakes. Thats great, very happy for them. Such a shame that my personal experience...

This place ruined my son's first birthday :( see pictures for what I ordered and what I got. I don't really care if the design is totally off but at least they could have made it look like a decent cake. First of all there were so many dents in the cake when I picked it up. The spacing between the words is like a 4 year old did it. The stars were uneven in sizes and don't even stay in one place. The number one was a damaged piece and worst of all the clouds look like they were a mistakenly dropped frosting. I hate myself for ordering the cake from here. My wife and I contracted Donna’s to make our wedding cake after a friend suggested them to us. Our friend’s family used them for every birthday, holiday, etc. so we decided to do a tasting to check out the hype. We were blown away by the tasting and the entire process. They worked with us to make sure we got what we wanted while also staying at a price point we wanted. The staff at Donna’s was so friendly and the cake was beautiful.
