Kids Are Kids — Local services in Boston

If you have young kids, take them elsewhere to pick out toys. Maybe this store works for older kids or adults buying gifts, but it was not a welcoming space for a parent with small children.

Almost as soon as we walked in, the shopkeeper seemed to take a dislike to us. She hovered, asked repeatedly if we’d made a selection yet, and followed us as if we were a problem to manage. At one point she even removed a toy I intended to buy, telling me my kids should only take out one at a time. Later, she scolded me for allowing them to handle toddler toys designed to be touched and explored (one of which I would have happily purchased if we hadn’t been treated so poorly).

When I mentioned leaving a review, I was told that nothing I said would matter. Maybe not, but I chose this place based on the glowing reviews and left shocked, disheartened, and without toys for my kids.

The store is dim, cluttered, and overpriced (a Matchbox car that sells for $1.50 elsewhere was $5.99 here). Honestly, those things alone wouldn’t have kept me away, but the dismissive, unwelcoming treatment will. Parents: temper your expectations. I’ll be warning friends and I...

I am given Maria and Nikoletta five stars, because of excellent customer service and professionally greeting. Today I called them, because I had to buy a birthday for granddaughter. I asked them what time are you closing(5:00). The daughter Maria had ask her mom would she stay until I get there, and her response was yes. I told her me and my daughter are on our way. I appreciate you waiting for us. When I entered the store, I told her that was me who called and said I am on my way to your store. Maria and Nikoletta were so heart warming to us :) I end up buying a gift for me granddaughter and plus they gave my daughter a free pointer toy. I had high expectations walking into Kids R Kids because this was the first toy store that pops up when I searched for 'best reviews' and toy store. I was not disappointed!

I shared my neice's age, pictures of her recent birthday and her hobbies. Within minutes, the owner had pinpointed details from the pictures that even I had missed which lead her to two unique gifts that will be a big hit! Not only do both enable my neice's own artwork to personalize her items but they are truly unique gifts that I had not seen before - one of a kind! Our gifts were wrapped and we were greeted out with the same smile and warmth that had welcomed us just 15 minutes before.
