Pleasant Cafe has a huge loyal following and it’s a really cool time capsule of a place. I saw the photo for prime rib and mad a special trip to try it. The problem with calling a piece of cooked meat as prime rib is misleading. If you cook a piece of rib eye like a boiled meat and douse gravy on it does not make it a prime rib. Prime rib is prized for low heat, long time cooking. Unfortunately, the prime rib I got was a braised meat. Unfortunately terrible to eat. I ate as much as I could stomach but wished I had ordered a sandwich or something else that was easy for the kitchen. My husband got a chicken salad sandwich which was fine. The Greek salad also was just ok. The salad dressing was good. The fries have a coating to make them crunchy so that was good. The place was short staffed as well. I would never go back especially since I live in Cambridge, but I can see why people would go there for pizza and beer or something like that.

Had to check out the pizza. It was delicious! Also wanted to come because the restaurant was in the Holdovers. There was a wait, but it was a Friday. Everything was well organized, and staff & patrons were talking to one another using first names. Very much a restaurant with regulars. Our server Joanne was super busy but incredibly attentive to our needs. She was funny too. Really helped create that neighborly feeling. We were informed (from Joanne) yhat our pizza was going to be a while. She suggested we order other food to fill the time. That was a great pro tip. We basically had a 3 course meal. Antipasto salad, pasta with Italian sausage, and pizza. Can't wait to return!!

FYI, Pleasant is closed for Vacation from Aug 1-7, will reopen on Monday, Aug 8, 2022. Now that I've got that out of the way, this is a neighborhood gem. Pre-Covid we would eat in, enjoy the old-time decor, and walk away spending 40% what we did elsewhere. Post-Covid have taken a like to pizza for take-out, highly prefer their thicker homemade dough to the numerous local pizza joints. And will periodically get takeout of the nightly meat-based special for myself since we don't cook meat at home. Also, a large fully-stocked bar available if you like to imbibe.

I have had the pleasure of enjoying countless meals at Pleasant Cafe. I have reviewed before and giving a second review forn perspective of different waitress experiences. The ONLY reason I had to shave a star off was because the waitress we had was just very overwhelmed,.confused and all over the place. Everything about this place I love. The food, the ambiance, how the restaurant clings on nostalgia with all original to opening decor. Food is never ever a disappointment, and memories are created. 13 years ago, I craved chicken marsala a LOT, and always ordered it to go and they always would customize it how I like. A little chopped ham and melted mozzarella. 13 year later, back in March having lunch with dad, I told him here that I am expecting his 3rd grandbaby. I am delivering this baby very soon and plan to have my last night out at Pleasant Cafe. So you see one bad waitress encounter will not ruin it for me. Yet this is what service looked like on a Friday. Seated about 7:15 On a Friday of last week. Took our orders, my eldest always get a cheeseburger well done thsts what she ordered. I got the prime with a salad. Upon ordering, we asked for a second round of bread and water. The kids, my guest and I were famished and thirsty. We never saw the waitress again for at least 20 minutes. My.guest ordered a beer, that's around the time she received it. The waitress was serving the big table on the right to the back , the last booth near the rear exit and ours. She very overwhelmed going to out 3 tables trying to figure out who ordered what. She came to our table a little while later and finally gave us some bread. Then again she comes with a kids chicken finger and asked of we ordered that . We did not. She comes back a few minutes later pretty much insisting someone at our table ordered chicken fingers. I told her my.eldest ordered a well done cheeseburger and the little one, fish and chips. She insisted we ordered well done Chicken fingers . She basically argued with me several times about this. She left and sometime later I received my salad which was at room temp, as if it was sitting there and forgotten the be served. Then finally out food arrived, and my prime was lukewarm as was my baked potato . The flavor was delicious, but i did not want to wait another hour for hot food, so just ate it because like i mentioned, we were starved. Another forgotten plate for our table?! This was as she scrambled about the other tables figuring out their orders. Everyone in the area she was serving was looking concerned and a little flustered. With all respect to how busy Pleasant gets at night and especially weekends, service is unacceptably and unapologetically slow . This really needs some attention, how to manage the masses that.come through for take out and sit down service. Some waitresses there are more efficient than the others, but equally they all share the same face of feeling overwhelmed with managing tables on very busy nights. By seating time to finish and pay, bout 9 ish....

My favorite restaurant is the Pleasant Cafe for many reasons. Three of those reasons are they have amazing food, it always feels really warm and welcoming, and it's pretty convenient.

I like the Pleasant Cafe because of their food. I always order ravioli with meat sauce on the side. The ravioli and meat sauce are warm when you get it and I love to dip the ravioli in the meat sauce. The cheese inside the ravioli is so flavorful and delicious. Another reason why I love the Pleasant is because they have so many different choices so it's super hard to choose what to eat. They have salads, burgers and pasta dishes too! To make it even harder to decided what to eat there are always different specials! The Pleasant Cafe even has specials for the days of the week! The Pleasant Cafe has lots of wonderful desserts . My favorite dessert is the strawberry short cake because you can really taste the strawberries and the amazing homemade whipped cream! Those are some of the examples why I love the food at Pleasant Cafe!

The Pleasant always feels warm and welcoming. They have comfy booths and it's never too chilly so you don't need a coat! I really like the outside of the Pleasant because it looks like two different buildings so when you walk in you're like wow! One side looks like a super old restaurant while the other side looks like a new pizza place! Lastly the waitresses and people who work there are super friendly. Once me and my family were having dinner there and we brought a game. By accident we left the game there. When we left the building our waitress came hurrying out with our game! Another time I was there for my birthday and the owner gave me a gift card to the Pleasant. So as you can see the people who work there are really nice! That's why the Pleasant Cafe always feels warm and welcoming!

The third and final reason why the Pleasant Cafe is my favorite restaurant is that it's pretty convenient. I can walk there so if it's a nice day you can enjoy a little walk! If you want dinner at home you can get take out from the Pleasant Cafe. Also, usually you don't have to wait for a table so you can have some food faster if you're really hungry. Finally why I like the Pleasant Cafe is because the inside is really big so you're not squished. There are three rooms. The bar with some TV's, the Pleasant room, which is small but nice, and the very big main dining hall which has lots of beautiful paintings of fish hanging on the wall. That's why my favorite restaurant is the Pleasant Cafe.

If you've never been to the Pleasant Cafe before then you should go because they have really good food, it feels warm and welcoming and finally it's pretty convenient. There are so many other reasons why I like the Pleasant Cafe and the ones I just told you about are only some of them. The Pleasant Cafe is a great place to go with friends and family and it's a great place to cheer you up! That's why the Pleasant Cafe is my favorite restaurant!

The Pleasant Cafe in Roslindale is an absolute gem, and I cannot rave enough about their Onion, Pepper, and Linguiça pizza. If you're a pizza aficionado like me, you're in for a real treat! This pizza is a masterpiece of flavors, and when ordered crispy, it takes your taste buds on a delightful journey.

Let's start with the star of the show--the Linguiça sausage. It's perfectly seasoned, adding a rich and smoky flavor that complements the sweetness of the onions and the slight tanginess of the peppers. The combination of these ingredients creates a harmonious symphony of tastes that dances on your palate with each bite. And what makes it even more impressive is that this culinary marvel is crafted using an electric pizza oven, proving that excellence can be achieved in any kitchen.

But The Pleasant Cafe isn't just about pizza. On a special Valentine's Day, my wife and I decided to try their Lamb Shanks, and it was a decision we'll never forget. The tender, succulent lamb, slow-cooked to perfection, practically melted off the bone. The flavors were incredible, and it was a romantic dining experience we'll cherish forever.

One thing that consistently stands out at The Pleasant Cafe is the reasonable prices. You get top-notch quality without breaking the bank, making it a go-to spot for date nights, family gatherings, or casual dinners.

The friendly staff and cozy atmosphere only enhance the overall dining experience. The Pleasant Cafe truly lives up to its name, making every visit a pleasant and memorable one.

If you're in Roslindale and looking for an outstanding pizza or a great dinner option, look no further than The Pleasant Cafe. I guarantee you won't be disappointed. This place deserves every one of...
