Chilacates Washington St. — Restaurant in Boston

I ordered the chicken Tinga taco plate. In my order I did not receive tacos but instead received all ingredients in one container and tortillas in a separate foil. The quality of said container was so cheap and flimsy that when I attempted to take it out to the bag it basically collapsed on itself. When someone orders tacos they expect to receive tacos. What I received was the equivalent to a bowl from Chipotle. I wasn’t expecting all of my food in a container and having to literally separate my meat from my rice and make my own tacos(didn’t want meat and rice tacos but there it was). Not to mention the food was flavorless and subpar. Perhaps as a Mexican American my standards were too high but at a minimum salt added to rice and beans goes a long way. When I called the store to explain the issue I had with spending as much money I did for this dinner the poor girl had no idea what to do because according to her “Paula” the restaurant manager was not in and “never comes in to work but only works from home”. I would assume that makes it very difficult to address any issues and unhappy customers. All this to say I will never order from here again, wouldn't recommend it to anyone and am embarrassed that this “Mexican” restaurant is a representative of my culture. Do better Chilacates. If you want way better Mexican food go to La Taqueria in Dedham...

Lots of potential, very pleasant interior, clean and well maintained space, fast polite service, the food was fresh... but everything our group ordered tasted bland (except for the guacamole), as if no seasoning was used at all. Our group was looking for a quick bite after a show, it was composed of people from different backgrounds and with different food preferences, and we all really wanted to like this place, but found that the food didn't have much flavor and didn't compare with the same dishes we've tried in local places in Mexico, similar cafes in MA, or even Chipotle. The owners and employees have done a good job with everything else, if they would just focus on offering delicious flavorful Mexican food, this restaurant can be great. Picture of my Churros and Elote Corn. I forgot to take a picture of the quesadilla. Both were good, but I had 2 issues on the way home. My plates fell through the bag when I got home, and that’s the second time that has happened from here. They need a sturdier bag for people that order atleast 3 items. And the second issue was my chicken quesadilla was very soggy because the sour cream and guacamole leaked onto it In the same plate. Which if I’d had it my way, I wouldn’t have had them at all. As I just prefer my quesadilla with pico. I wish you could choose the sides that come with the quesadilla. I only ordered pico with it, not guacamole...
