When we first sat down, we were genuinely impressed — one server was handling both the bar and all the tables, and despite the chaos, he seemed to be keeping up pretty well.
I ordered a burger and when he came back to confirm he spoke really quickly. With how loud it was inside I couldn’t hear him clearly. Unfortunately the wrong burger ended up being delivered. Not a huge deal — I figured I’d just let him know and ask for the one I originally meant to order. But he dropped it off and moved on so quickly that I didn’t get the chance to say anything. I had been sitting with the wrong order for about 15 minutes, and my friends had already finished eating.
Still, I understood how busy he was and I didn’t want to make it a big issue. But when we tried to get his attention, he turned toward us, threw his arms up dramatically that would make it hard to distinct him from a wacky inflatable tube man at a car dealership and said sarcastically “OMG OMG hi hi!! I can wave my hands too!!! You guys are not the only people in this bar, I have other people to serve,” before walking away with a lot of attitude. That moment honestly soured the experience. I wasn’t trying to be difficult I just wanted the burger I had actually ordered.
He came back about 10 minutes later, and when I explained the situation, he pushed back and came off snarky and sassy. At that point, I didn’t even want the food anymore. I told him I was no longer interested in eating, and we did ask to be reimbursed for the meal I didn’t touch.
I’m still not sure why politely flagging him down triggered that kind of reaction. What would’ve been more acceptable — Morse code? A smoke signal? I get that he was overwhelmed, but snapping at customers for simply wanting their correct order isn’t the move. We came in patient and understanding, but that moment killed the...
Read moreThis is an outstanding little dive bar that was within walking distance from our hotel. The bartender (later I learned was the new owner) was very friendly upon our arrival. Our beverages never got below 1/3 empty before being asked if we wanted another.
Valerie (I believe was her name) was very helpful with places to go visit on our short trip. She proved a list of bars/restaurants/clubs that she felt we would like (and she was spot on) in the downtown area.
I got wings (forgot to snap a photo) on our lunch visit and then the Shroom Burger on Sundays dinner visit. Both very good food. Prices were amazing as well.
The bourbon selection was amazing as well. I was very impressed to see this little bar with such a great selection of bourbon.
If you are a dive bar person, this is your place. If you're not, instill believe you'll enjoy this little gem. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Give them a visit. I surely will the next time I'm...
Read moreI’ve been coming here for awhile now and I just love this place. Every staff member has been very friendly, and they remember me. I like their red sangria and long Island iced teas. Both the chopped and arugula salads with chicken are sooo delicious! And their Reuben is probably the tastiest I’ve ever had! However, if you want to taste the tastiest burger ever, grab the Bennington burger! Layers of chorizo, bacon, beef, an egg, and avocado... I just dig in without adding anything. To be honest, I have yet to taste anything average here, everything is just plain excellent. The decor is attractive for such a small place, it’s clean, they occasionally have trivia or a musician, and the other customers I have chatted with have been very nice people. Overall this is a very nice place that I look forward to coming to for a drink and/or a bite to eat on an almost weekly basis. Renegades Pub never...
