If you’re looking for a quick lunch or dinner that over delivers on delicious Thai food, you’ve found your new spot!
We got there at noon and the steam tables were filled with about 10 different delicious, diverse, and beautifully presented dishes that made our mouths water.
You opted for the combo plate (your choice of 1-3 items with white/fried rice), but you can also order aka carte (which we definitely will be doing next time)
We ordered the Thai green curry with beef, pork belly and tofu with eggs, and red curry chicken with morning glory with half fried and half white rice (all for $16!!!)
Something you’ll appreciate about this place - the staff lovingly plates each dish separately (even for to go) rather than just throwing on the rice allowing you to enjoy each part of the meal individually.
We also added the side order of fried chicken ($6) and to no one’s surprise it was absolutely delicious. Tender, marinated, crispy and served with a sweet and spicy sauce.
The Thai tea was also spot on and they even had a selection of Thai desserts 💕!
The portions were generous, the staff kind and hospitable, and there was plenty of seating.
This place has become a top 5 quick lunch/dinner spot and definitely deserves your...
Read moreWe tried the AYCE lunch at this place on a Saturday ($18/pp) and it was something different than the other Thai food places. They had a variety of food options for the buffet area, but not many. More like dishes served with rice. The better food options were on the menu that were charged separately.
At least the self-serving area looked very clean and the food was very healthy for sure. The atmosphere was vibrant. But the place is a very small, we kept bumping into each other or had to be very mindful whenever getting up to get food.
However, when we came in around lunch time on the weekend, it was quite busy. The staff handed us the bill out of nowhere while I was still eating, even though I wasn’t really full. It felt like they rushed us to finish so they could have the waiting customers to come in. I completely understand we have to yield the seats for the next customers but it doesn’t mean that we can be treated like that.
That was my experience on my first visit. I still want to come back and try other food, even though that experience kind of threw me off...
Read moreI rarely write restaurant reviews, but my experience with the food from Rice Away has been so consistently wonderful that it has become one of my favorite restaurants in the Brighton/Allston area. My girlfriend and I love their Siam String Bean dish, their Fried rice options, and their Panang curry for dine-in.
On top of that, they have a hot food bar that gives you a pick and choose option for up to three entrees for a quick take out meal at a ridiculously reasonable price. Many of the entrees available are exclusive to the hot bar (not listed on the menu itself), and I highly recommend trying them out at least once! These entrees are regularly on rotation, so they'll have some different options on different days, but they are all available when you order online. Palo and Moo Whan are my personal favorite of the hot bar entrees.
I know it's cold outside, but if you're looking for hot, delicious meals, I cannot insist enough on trying out Rice Away for...
