This place was here back in 1981 when I was a baby and is still going strong. Walked by today and couldn't believe it's still around and about a month ago I walked by with young teens working here and a line of people inside getting ice cream and bowling like it was the hippest part of Hyde Park & Boston like it was the swinging 60s and everyone was having a blast! This same building on the back side, around back had a karate place called "One Step Beyond" I went to as a kid. Really no windows to this bowling alley but it does have a vibe in it.

Came here for candlepin bowling and ice cream with my Little. We had a great time. Prices are affordable. When we arrived there was no wait for a lane. Great for kids and birthday parties. Pizza was ok it’s basically like Chuckie Cheese. Was able to park on Everett Street for free. There’s also a municipal lot across the street Their website pricing is out of date, but pricing only went up about 10-15%. $4 for shoe rental. $5 per person per game for bowling

If you are looking for a fun day activity for the whole family, Ron's is the place to go. The candlepin bowling is accessible for all ages (they have bumpers and a ball ramp for the little ones) and the ice cream is, hands-down, the best I've had in Boston. During pandemic it's best to call ahead to reserve a lane or get their ice cream to go and enjoy in the comfort of your own home. Either way, be sure to check out this icon of Boston entertainment!

This is in my opinion MY best place to order ice cream. The HYDE PARK location to be precise. I come here all the time. Yesterday was different. The little ice cream server boys had been taking orders. About two of them kept talking to young ladies that came to order after us not paying attention to my sisters and I. As I said before I come here all the time so I know the servers faces. The young boy with the brown turban or scarf on his head caught an attitude with me and was extremely rude…muttering under his breath like a damn child because he failed to cover our cups of ice cream. He said he THOUGHT we were eating in. Like he even asked which he never did. He was chatting throughout with younger customers …he didn’t care. And when he caught that attitude he carelessly took out the spoons making a whole mess, covered the cups and just gave it back to us. We all were too stunned and disgusted. I laughed about it but I was pissed. I wanted a whole new cup that he hadn’t touched but I didn’t want to make a scene so we left. Honestly, I’m still a bit mad because I didn’t deserve that reaction. Every time I come the my cup is always covered. But last night was a disaster. And the same server doesn’t serve the ice cream properly. He fills in cups and half’s cups. He doesn’t maintain the same servings for the different sizes. How is he allowed to fill up up some and not fill up others. His customer service skills are hitting the dirt ground. And if he sees this review: ā€œSon, you need to learn manners and etiquette. Not everyone is collected. Be rude to the wrong person and it might be something else. Pay close attention...

I love Ron's ice cream. When I was living in Massachusetts, I went there often to get some ice cream. However, recently on june 20, 2017 while visiting massachusetts, I ran into some issues not with the ice cream but with an employee serving ice cream. I experienced discrimination because of my color (I am black). I was in line waiting to be served and there were a white couple behind me. The employee looked at me in the eyes yet he skipped me and asked the white couple behind me what they wanted. I am not sure whether or not the couple or somebody else told him I should be first, he did come to me afterward. Too late for me though! I expressed to him that I clearly understood the reasons behind his action and that I do not want him to serve me anymore. Of course he denied discriminating, but his action speaks louder. A white lady in front of me who was waiting for her order clearly understood the employee action as well. She expressed her displeasure as well and said that my ice cream should be free. I paid for my ice cream and told them that it is not free ice cream that I want but respect and good treatment. The employees repeatedly encouraged me to accept the free ice cream which was nice. However, I kept replying to them that all I want is for the guy to change since this is the 21st century. Chances are when I am in Massachusetts again, I will go back to ron's to get some ice cream. However, I will never forget the bad treatment I experienced that day because some people choose to...

I have been a big fan of Ron’s ice cream dating back to when I lived in MA in the 1990’s. When I moved back at the end of 2020, I was excited to be able to return to Ron’s! Unfortunately COVID (and perhaps too much ice cream) led to a significant weight gain, and I decided in August to focus on losing weight to improve my overall health — and stayed away from ice cream. Between April and August I lost over 50lbs, and I brought Ron’s ice cream back into my life, and it’s as good as ever. My favorite flavor is Brookie Dough, and I recently ā€œcreatedā€ a Cherry Vanilla/Chocolate Chip milkshake (extra thick, of course), and I may or may not have gotten one from both Hyde Park AND Dedham last Friday evening/night!! I recommended adding a Cherry Vanilla Chocolate...
