In general I like the Taco Bell chain. Decent food, good dollar value, menu different from the usual burger chain. Taco Bell make an above average change of pace for grab and go food during my busy days. However, this location greatly suffers from poor management. There is often broken bottles and assorted trash in the parking area. I have never seen an employee sent out to sweep, or even tidy up, the lot. The drive through and order online services are painfully slow and often inaccurate. It is not uncommon for people to have to wait 20 minutes after an order is placed to receive food. Inside, the dining area is kept reasonably neat. The cashiers are usually tidy, polite and reasonably accurate. The food prep area is always a mess. Trash on the floors, greasy looking floors, unkempt or improperly dressed employees... I can't decide if the food prep area looks more like the waiting room at a methadone clinic or a PSA on the dangers of hepatitis. The basic mexican style snackfoods are ok. Straight out of the corporate handbook. However, there is a big problem with the Long John Silver's side of the menu. Everything that they fry, and I do mean everything, has exactly the same flavor, old fishy cooking oil. I don't know if they don't change their oil often enough, if the oil is not kept hot enough, if the machinery is not cleaned but there is no excuse for fries or hushpuppies or chicken strips to taste like old fish. Their fried foods drip hot oil. It often pools in the take out boxes. In my cooking experience, when the oil absorbs food flavors and the food absorbs copious amounts of oil then the cooking oil is way under temperature. Most of the problems of this location could be fixed with proper management. The managers need to address issues and assign staff to fix problems. It is management's job to identify and address problems before they get out of hand. When I see a shift manager standing in trash chatting with an employee whose dress is clearly below Board of Health standards, and they are just chatting, the manager needs to be replaced. This location could easily be the best fast food in the area but with all of its issues it has fallen...
Read more1/5, Food is good, service is comically bad. 07/28/22 Edit: came here at 9:15 when they close at 10pm, they said “cash register doesn’t work, we’re closing early”. Except I already paid on the app. Another guy comes over and says “sorry, we ran out of all our ingredients”. This place still is AWFUL. Management if you are reading this, please GET IT TOGETHER. What kind of business are you running??
Edit: came here again on 02/25/22 and they had all the lights outside off and did not answer the drive thru at 9pm despite website saying they are open until midnight. I drove 20 minutes to get here. This place is . terrible. Stay away. Go to Popeyes instead
This is the closest taco bell to my house, but from now on I'll be going to Quincy instead because the service at this location has been getting worse recently. Example: they often forget items from my order, and if I stop to check it they will say "It's all in there!", rather sassily. So, I pull forward and check... only to find that indeed, something is usually missing. Then I need to go back through the drive through all over again.
The worst lately has been that they try to close the store down early -- current closing time is listed as 10pm, and they sometimes close early... However, this past week I placed an online order and when I arrived they told me that they were closed at 9:45 "because we need to clean up the store before closing at 10"! The experience was so shockingly bad that I was laughing more than I was angry. Luckily, the manager corrected that employee and I was still able to get my food.
All-in-all, the service here has been really poor and I advise you to go to a different location...
Read moreOne of the better fast food chains. Satisfying food, decent portions, good value for the money. This location is a combination Taco Bell and Long John Silver's. The Long John Silver's seafood themed fast food tends to be very oily. All of their fried food tastes the same. They really need to either replace their oil more frequently or fry different foods in different oil baths. I also suspect that their frying oil is not kept hot enough for a clean crisp fry. The food from the Taco Bell menu is better. Tasty and not greasy, the dollar menu makes satisfying road snacks on a busy day. This location has some issues though and I suspect they stem from poor management style. The restaurant is reasonably clean but the parking area often has broken bottles and sharp glass. I have mentioned this to employees. They say it will be looked into but it never seems to get cleaned up. The employees are there for a paycheck. No pride in their jobs and no caring beyond minimum job requirements. Also on my last visit I noticed the food prep guy wearing his pants BELOW his bum. The shift manager and other staffers didn't seem to care but as a customer it is very off-putting to see the chef "hanging out". I wonder what the board of health would think about it. With better management developing some staff pride and better restaurant standards, this could be a really...
