Jeff the bartender is a bad image for the owner. I’ve been here before many times and never any issues. Jeff had an ego trip or something. We pulled up out front while he was smoking a cigarette, 3 professionally dressed working professionals, 1st time out in a long time and seeing a friend I haven’t seen in almost 10 years and he was giving us a hard time because I took out a box of car parts out of my vehicle to show my friend. He was telling us to get out of the middle of the road when we weren’t even any where near close to the middle of the road and there wasn’t even a car on the street. We were looking at him bewildered like “What?” I was drinking a seltzer while my friend was explaining to him that we weren’t even close to the middle of the street. He told us we couldn’t come in. 😂 Ok pal, your ego trip or whatever you got going on just costed the owner a drop in sales revenue for the night and a bad review. Might want to find a new bartender. I bartended for 8 years. I would have never pulled that. You don’t let people into your establishment if they are either intoxicated or not adhering to the establishments rules.. not because you have an ego trip and a thumb up your a$$. If the owner responds to this and does something about it, I will happily remove this...

What a hidden gem. Our party of 3 came here at last call for the kitchen, starving after a visit to the Sam Adams brewery. Little did I know this happenstance visit would result in a shocking surprise.

When you think of a hole in the wall Irish pub, this is it. I wish I could transport the bar to my own neighborhood. The drinks were great and the service was impeccable. My friend ordered the Guinness and the keg was tapped. The bartender decides to replace the beer free just in case the first option wasn't good.

In terms of food, we were hungry and we were coming at last call. Our expectations of the food were low. Yet we were pleasantly surprised. I ordered the steak frites. When I took the first bite of the steak, it had the perfect char on the outside while maintaining a tender and juicy center. It came with a savory sauce that paired well with the potatoes. This was one of the best steaks I've ever had in my life. I wonder if it was sheer luck but Id love to come back and try it again.

I'd give this place 6 stars if I could. I hope it maintains just enough clientele to stay in business but not enough to lose it's charm of being...

The bartender got so upset because his mediocre looking (but fun personality) girlfriend was flirting with us and buying us drinks. So he told us to leave.... spend your money elsewhere. I never hit on her but the fact that my conversation was making her enjoy herself and laugh was too much for big baldy. Only drink here if you want to walk out on a tab because the insecure bartender serves tiny sausages and dishes out stupid comments. If these massholes are so proud to be Irish, why are they so insecure about it? I have Scottish ancestry.... I have a hard time relating to the insecurity... have a lovely time in Boston otherwise. Although next time I come to Boston, I may rent out their air b&b so I can boss them around for a day or two. I heard.good things about it from locals. But the vibe I got was that only locals only are welcome here....

I stumbled upon this place when I got into town on, Sunday. It’s now Saturday and I’ve been here almost every day this week. All of the bartenders are so nice and cheerful. Conner and Kenny have treated me like I’m a “regular” after just a few days of coming in. I’ve had supper, lunch, and as of this morning brunch at this place and the food has been OFF the chain good every time, especially the full Irish breakfast! Great Irish bar ran by actual Irish lads who make ya feel at home. My only complaint is not getting to come in anymore when I leave to go home. Keep up the good work lads and cheers for all the good craic 🍻

Kenny is my favorite bartender in Boston. I’m a bartender myself, and the Tavern is my to go place. Kenny always makes me feel at home. Scoot, the bouncer, is a lovely soul. I’m always happy to see him. I’m a young woman and he makes sure I’m safe when I’m there. Connor is great. He’s very fun and always greets me with my favorite drink! Paul is an amazing guy. Glad he’s finally a manager. I’ve known all these guys for years and I’m always happy to see them. The drinks are fantastic and the food is also impressively good. Come to the Tavern!
