Overall, eh, and it was our first time here.
Pretty neat place inside, modern and clean. The beer itself was good, the food and service was disappointing. The queso appetizer was just bad - the smoked pork was cold and not well seasoned and the queso was lukewarm, bland, and gritty (the sauce was broken). The tacos were okay, good flavor but cold, with the rice being cold and bit bland and the beans being mediocre, the fennel salad was decent. Informed the staff of the queso (didn't say anything about the tacos as we were hungry and they tasted good though cold) and they comped it, and gave us some small complimentary beers. This was a very nice gesture and appreciated but sadly one of the glasses had a hair on the inside of the rim of the beer. Informed the staff again and after apologizing and offering to get us someone else, which we declined as the hair was in a glass of free beer, they took it away and gave us a new set of complimentary beers.
The one thing that left a sour taste in our mouth was the beginning of our service. We came in about 8:45 PM knowing they closed at 10 PM, so we figured we had a good amount of time to order food without it being too late for the kitchen. Upon getting menus our server/bartender told us that the kitchen was doing a last call on food, as it takes them awhile to break down and clean. Not a big deal, but being our first time and seeing a menu we didn't know what was good, what everything was, etc. Our server/bartender came back a couple minutes later to take our order and we hadn't decided, to which we asked for a couple more minutes, and he responded in a way that made us feel rushed to decide so he could get it to the kitchen. We told him that we still needed a couple minutes, he complied, and we ordered our food. We did not like that we were being rushed to order our food, and how rather than giving us our couple minutes the first time we asked he attempted to get us to order right away.
It honestly was a disappointment. We're from out of town and had a long day at the Rocky Mountain National Park and we're looking forward to a big, nice meal and great beer to end the day. Instead we got cold food and left a bit hungry. At least the...
Read moreAvery Brewing is GINORMOUS! We only had time to visit the restaurant (upstairs) portion, which included a beautiful bar and nice eating area. Saw the tasting room & it was packed, so I assume it was as clean and nice as the restaurant. There is also an entrance for a self guided tour of the brewery, but we didn't get a chance to wander through. The service was incredible. They use what looked to be an app to place orders. 2 people in our party knew which beer they wanted to order, while another was debating what she wanted. The 2 beers were delivered before the 3rd had even been decided upon! We all noticed how all the servers helped out and there was not a single wait staff assigned to the table. It seemed to be who was available at that moment. This was a double edge sword. The service was incredibly fast and seemed so effective & efficient! The problem was there was a server that was INCREDIBLY rude and grumpy. We hated when he was the one that was available. The other (main) server was a bright light in the universe. Obviously, we MUCH preferred the light and joy of the universe helping us out! Hopefully the grump was just having a day and that is not a typical experience. I only gave it 4 stars, because, although the food was good, this is a very pricey & foodie place (think duck & waffles entree kind of foodie place). Not at all what I expect of "bar food". We all (5 of us) chose the $18 fish & chips (pretty tasty, but who charges $18 for fish & chips, especially when the serving size wasn't large enough for leftovers!?) When we decided to try a brewery for dinner, I didn't expect an $18 entree would be one of the cheapest meals available on the menu (I believe they also offered a $35 prime rib as an example of the menu). So, as long as you are prepared for a higher bill, this is a nice place to go. **Note: I am not a beer drinker. Others in the party liked all the beers they tried & perhaps that may have been enough for them to...
Read moreI’ve been a loyal customer of Avery Brewing for years, but my recent visit with my family, including my newborn baby, left me deeply disappointed.
During our meal, I went to change my baby in the women’s restroom and found the only changing table in unacceptable condition: it was covered in used wipes, a used diaper, paper towels, and was next to a bucket of cleaning chemicals. Given the state of the facility, I made the decision to change my baby discretely on the ground, on a sanitary pad, near our patio table and behind our stroller.
While doing this, the on-duty manager approached and told me I was not allowed to change my newborn baby there. I approached her again after I had finished the task and explained that I had checked the restroom first and even showed her a photo of the unsanitary conditions. She told me she didn’t care and that it was the rule, no diaper changes outside, apparently no matter the condition of the provided facilities. She also suggested my husband try the men’s room instead, which felt dismissive and unhelpful. What was most upsetting wasn’t just the lack of a clean space to care for my child, but the complete lack of understanding or empathy from the manager. Her attitude completely undercut the excellent service we had received from our waiter. He earned the redemptive second star in this review.
As a parent and longtime customer, I expect better. We won’t be returning, and I hope Avery takes this feedback seriously, maintains cleaner facilities, and trains staff to support families with small children in a more respectful and...
