We stop in north boulder to meet the kids. They know their mama LOVES Mexican food so they pick Sanchos (hubby suffers but goes along like a champ!). It's in a strip mall and not large. You order off the menu which reminds me of La Estrella in Larryville. I choose a Colorado burrito (choice of meat, beans, sour cream, guac, onions) with side of refried beans, margarita, guacamole and chips and hubby orders 2 chicken tamales and a Modelo Especial. Kids order their faves and (how sweet) they offer to pay!!!! PUT YOUR CARD AWAY! MOM'S HERE! ☺️ we get our drinks and sit down at a no frills table and chairs. Food arrives via server (please tip at the register) and WOW, all my senses are tingling and jingling with bated breath. The burrito is a medley of everything I love: gooey cheese, hot sour cream and guacamole and spicy beans with a hint of "salsa-fied" chicken. Just makes my tingling and jingling intensify. Magnificent! The guacamole is probably a 4 out of 5. I've had better. It is homemade but there's no lime taste. The chips were fantastic! When I bit into one it broke off immediately with a light salty taste instead of eating it like it was on an assembly line to get the full flavor. This delivered in one bite. My margarita? Ok, I've had some damn good ones. Folks, this was out of a dispenser (normally UGH). Whoever made the batch should be canonized. Full on taste the tequila before I tasted the lemon-lime mixer. Seriously, quite the surprise. Hubby's 2 chicken tamales were excellent-HE SHARED! doughy outer layer with an inner tender, moist chicken wrapped in the traditional husks. Prices are very affordable. The atmosphere is cafeteria tables and chairs and no music nor frills. While I enjoy atmosphere, I truly enjoy a food atmosphere more. This place is absolutely worth visiting if you're in the area. And if you're staying in the area book a room at twin lakes Boulder Inn....
Read moreLol Jesse Gomez is a joke, "one of their most loyal customers" was the best part of their stand up comedy review. Sorry they won't bend over backwards for you, consider going to one of the American Mexican restaurants in Boulder they'll serve your type better. Now onto my real review, this place is incredible. First of all despite what Jesse says their customer service is incredible. They are a order first then take a number to your seat type of restaurant without servers. They have bins to put your used dishes after you're done, but that didn't stop the owner/cook from taking time in between orders to come ask me if I needed a box and taking my plate for me. In these types of restaurants that's usually up to the customer to take their plate and ask for extras so that was just the icing on the cake that made this place fantastic. Now what made the cake you might ask? The food. I'll say it one more time for the people in the back, THE FOOD!! It was absolutely incredible, quite authentic and Just simply amazing. They had a salad bar for free and several different types of juices/margaritas. If all this wasn't good enough they also had a little 3 person band that was seriously really really well done. It had a guitarist, double bass, and a female lead singer who were all amazing in their own ways. Not only that but it couldn't have been a more perfect volume, loud enough to enjoy but quiet enough to still be able to take. Best Mexican restaurant in Boulder...
Read moreThis was the first time and definitely the last four sure. One of the worse experiences I've had while dining at a restaurant. Food was very bland and definitely reheated and dry. Took my family there for dinner on Taco Tuesday, we got there a few minutes after 7:00 when it had ended and the people at the front register were nice enough to let us still get the Taco Tuesday deal I've got no complaints on that that was actually nice of them. When our food came out it looked ok honestly mediocre for the amount of $$ spent. They advertise a red chili sauce, a green chili sauce and a mole sauce for their enchiladas. With that being said red chilli tasted like mole and we asked for the green sauce instead since apparently at Sancho's mole and red chilli sauce is the same bland thing, the thing that made our experience bad was that what I think was one of the cooks or "the manager" of establishment came out to rant at my wife about how he doesn't have time to be telling everybody how he makes his sauces and how he put chocolate on the sauce etc. I mean obviously he had no sense of hospitality at all to come out and raise his voice at PAYING costumers. It was pathetic and it's sad that so many people love this place that is honestly not even half as good as it was a few years ago when they were in Boulder and obviously under...
