From our visit last summer:
The bright spot here was the server. Very sweet and friendly.
On the other hand, food was...meh. Bland, actually.
(Admittedly, Don Julio in Elizabeth has spoiled me for almost all other Peruvian restaurants, very few exceptions. That said, even my VERY Peruvian -- and very PROUD of it -- husband concurred that the food didn't have a lot of taste to it, not even in that "homemade"-type of way, let alone restaurant ["I'm paying for this"]-quality. More oily/salty than well-seasoned, actually.)
Bathroom was not only cramped, but it wasn't as well kept as it could've been. (Might seem like a small detail to some, but when a public bathroom has toilet paper and/or paper towels left out of/off a holder for people to just grab with their bare hands, possibly drop and put back, especially when you can see signs of it previously being handled.... Some people don't care about those kind of details, but I do.)
Between the bland food and sketchy upkeep in the bathroom...not impressed.
Maybe it was an off day, but we're not exactly in a rush to go back and try again.
If you're feeling more adventurous, best of...

Food was delicious for the most part. I ordered a pork tamale, my dad Ceviche and my mom red spaghetti which comes with papa a la huancaina and ceviche. We are all Peruvian so we know how real Peruvian food is supposed to taste. The ceviche was excellent! Definitely recommend getting it, you have the option of getting it spicy or not so spicy. The spaghetti was good. My tamale was a bit dry and not enough pork. Nonetheless is was well cooked and had flavor. To drink we all got Chicha Morada, strongly recommend getting, it tasted great! Another great drink is Pisco Sour, it was my first time trying it and it was delicious. The oy downside to this place is parking and how small it is, it's a little tight but once you manage to get a table it's great. The food came out fast after ordering. Staff is friendly.
We were pleasantly surprised with live music while dining. The duo was great! The lady, I believe her name is Luz, had such a strong beautiful voice.
Overall this place has great Peruvian...
Read moreAn awesome hole in the wall Peruvian cuisine restaurant close to the main drag in boundbrook (basically right across the train station). Coming from a Peruvian family, I know a thing or 2 about the cuisine and man was I blown away. FOOD WAS REALLY GOOD! Great prices, great selection of classic Peruvian dishes, and because it's a more secluded restaurant, seems like there's always seating available. Had a great time with my family and will be making this my go to local spot to get some great...
