The wonderful ladies at this place came to my catering rescue in July with less than 24 hour notice, and I am forever grateful to them! I had previously placed a large order for catering thru another nearby bbq place for a party, but they abruptly closed their doors with no warning, no notice, no phone call to let me know if they were still going to cater our party or not, no contacting about a refund, nothing. I had placed the order with this other bbq place less than 3 weeks prior to them closing, yet no one said a word to me that they were aware they'd be closing their doors by the time our party came around.
At any rate, I went in to Jimmy Jo's BBQ on a Friday afternoon to see if they could cater such a large amount of food with less than 24 hour notice and the wonderful ladies that helped me out there made it happen!
Customer service like this is extremely rare in this day and age, and I cannot thank Jimmy Jo's enough for coming to the rescue, as well as their caring, compassionate staff that truly went above and beyond. They know how to run a business & it shows just how much they care about their customers by going the extra mile like they did. Everyone at our party absolutely loved their food and look forward to eating there.
Thank you again ladies for rescuing our surprise party!! You've got many customers...
Read moreThis is actually a local place I visit frequently because I love their loaded potatoes, add brisket, whenever I get a taste for brisket. I normally try to go in whenever I can, but I wasn't hauling my sleeping toddler into the restaurant. I have noticed recently that whenever I decide to go through the drive thru either, my order is wrong when I repeated my order more than once, or they never ever give me eating utensils. So tonight, I ordered a brisket loaded potato. I asked for bbq sauce because it does not come on the brisket, and after paying in the drive thru, I literally asked the girl at the window if she had the bbq sauce on the order. Just to get home and no bbq is in the bag. Also, tonight, I informed her that my last visits utensils are never in the bag with FOOD that I ordered. The employee informed me she would make sure to add them and stated, "unless a customer ask, they do not put utensils in the bag." I am sure she could read the look on my face and what I was thinking of what sense does that make when ppl place an order to eat food and not with their hands, btw. I am over my slight rant and basically will be taking a break from ordering a loaded potatoe for a while lbs. I can't even eat any more of this potato after typing this review. Let me go find something else to eat from my...
Read moreHave been here many times. It is the closest BBQ I can get to the kind I grew up with. They do all of their meat with a dry rub and slow smoke. To the people that say the brisket is too fatty, well guess what, until the Food Network came along, it was a cheap cut of meat that is very fatty. Some people cut too much of the fat of leaving the finished product very bland and dry. Most brisket purchased in the stores around here have been cut down to the point or the flat and then had almost all of the fat removed. The briskets JJs probably gets us the vendor packed where they trim off the hard fat and leave the softer fat for flavoring. Slow cooking a brisket to be edible without lots of sauce is an art as well as a science. The people that do it best are in Texas, from Texas, or traveled to Texas to learn from the best.
As for their sauces, the Chicago sweet sauce is okay, but I don't care for their Texas sauce. It isn't too hot, just don't like the flavor. I only use it as a condiment anyway. If I need you sauce that JJs, then something is truly wrong.
Great job to the people of Jimmy Jo's BBQ. Keep up...
