The Mix House — Restaurant in Bowling Green

The espresso beverages in this place are the best tasting lattes and cappuccinos that I have ever had. I consider myself a conniseaur of good coffee, and the coffee here is unlike any I've tried before and I've visited some of the best coffee houses in the United States, including several well known establishments in Seattle. There is only one that has come close to the true essence of a good cappuccino and that is located in Narragansett, RI, however, those of us who now live in the little town of Bowling Green VA are now privileged to be able to visit The Mix House. I've tried several of their concoctions, all superb, but I keep coming back to the Iced White Mocha. It is a happy dance in your mouth! The espresso is the key and it does not disappoint... It is bold with just the right amount of sweetness, the espresso shots themselves are a beautiful site and you can see the layers in each shot. I have to give credit to the baristas as well, the shots are timed perfectly, never too short and never too long which means you will never experience a bitter drink. They are well trained and consistent, the taste of your drink won't differ from to day as I have experienced at every other latte making coffee shop. Cute little coffee shop! Right on the Main Street in bowling green, this coffee house has plenty of options! I got “The Great Pumpkin” which is their rendition of the PSL. It was a little sweet for my taste but I would say the majority of people would like it this way! The homemade whipped cream on top was the perfect touch!! Despite the extra sweetness it was delicious none the less! The building also has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating for patrons so no need to worry about finding somewhere to relax with your Java! I'm a big fan of coffee and coffee houses, and have coffee equipment that seriously costs more that a lot of cars, and today my own beans... but even so my wife and I literally drive half an hour each way to go to this one every week or so.

I'm an unflavored latte or cortado guy, but my wife really likes their mixed drinks too .. and their coffee is good enough that they don't need to be drowned in sugar to be delicious (unlike certain coffee houses with green logos from Seattle that I won't mention.)....
