Let me first start off by saying that I order from this place all the time. I LOVE their food and service. So this review does not reflect the food quality or overall restaurant quality. However, today I decided to use the new app, SLICE. it’s literally just a delivery app full of pizza places. No most of these places have separate drivers for standalone companies like Uber and DoorDash and all of the above, so of course I assumed that SLICE would also have their own? Anyway, I got a promo code today for a free pizza since it’s my first order on the app and I chose motor city. The pizza was about $18 or $19 and I think I paid basically $8 with the promotion. The tip accidentally got put to $.50 and I thought maybe for some reason I could adjust it after the delivery like for most of these apps. But either way, I had some cash to give him, the driver. He pulls up about 10 minutes later, the app doesn’t even tell me he’s on his way and a motor city employee pops out of the car with my food. The first thing he does is comment about how apparently everybody’s giving away free pizza because clearly he saw that I paid next to nothing for my food. As if it came out of his pocket. THEN he decided to look at the receipt and complain about my “tip”. How $.50 isn’t even gonna get him out of my driveway. So then I had to awkwardly explain that I messed up on the app and that I had some cash for him, but since when is it OK for delivery drivers to actually COMPLAIN to customers about a tip? I understand it probably concerned him to see $.50 but there’s definitely a nicer way to bring up your concern. I love this pizza place and I won’t stop ordering from here because they have amazing food but I’m really not happy with this experience from a...
Read moreLet me preface this review by saying their pizza is some of the best, if not the best, pizza in the greater Boynton Beach area. If I'm looking to order pizza, Motor City is my go to. The issue, however, and the reason for the bad review, is the countless other issues I have with this establishment. Thinking back to 2016, I have been disappointed for a multitude of reasons, mainly attributed to what I believe is poor management. Here is a rundown of all that I have experienced.
1.) called for a large deep dish, only to be informed that they only have dough for mediums (why not make the dough from mediums into a large?). 2.) called for a pizza, I was informed that they do not have any boxes for carry out. 3.) Called for carryout, order was never placed after showing up...had to wait 15 minutes for my pizza to be cooked upon arrival (which was rushed, and undercooked). 4.) Showed up for a carryout order, register was down and I ended up waiting to pay while my pizza got cold. 5.) Called at 9:00PM on a weekday, hours of operation are till 10:00PM. No one would pick up the phone. Drove by on my way home, and from what I saw they were still open. 6.) Called for pizza, and the oven was not operational.
I expect these types of situations to happen every now and then, and I am very patient individual. I have called to order takeout the last few times only to have the aforementioned issues arise. Typically, I call, find out I can't order, and then order from somewhere else. Well, from now on I will take my business elsewhere first...which is disappointing because their pizza is very good.
Maybe I'll give them another chance down the road, but for now, I cannot give them my...
Read moreI am sad to say that I agree with the newest-posted mediocre reviews. We visited at 11 a.m. on 9/30/17.
If you're looking for a taste of Detroit, this is not the place.
I am a native Michigander, and I was really hoping for a Coney and a Rock & Rye.
When I ordered the Rock & Rye, I was told that Motor City does not have any Rock & Rye and that the woman who used to get it when she traveled up north no longer works there. Geez. Maybe try a distributor.
And if Motor City no longer carries it, then Motor City needs to remove it from the menu.
Then I ordered the coney, a chili-topped hotdog with onions and mustard. I knew when it arrived at the table that it was not a Michigan-based hotdog. One bite later, and I knew for certain.
When pressed, the server (who was actually quite nice) said that the distributor had sent the wrong hotdogs (Sabrett) and that Motor City was "using up the packages."
I could get the same effect by using a regular hotdog and topping it with Hormel without beans.
If Motor City does not really offer authentic Michigan food, then customers need to be told that ahead of time.
We also ordered a slice each of New York and Detroit deep dish pizzas with a drink for $6.95. Neither are worth discussing.
The french fries were standard. The cole slaw...meh.
We asked for ketchup and got a bottle with about 3 tablespoons left.
If Motor City does not offer authentic Detroit food or drink, the least Motor City can do is provide ketchup.
If you are from Michigan and want a taste of home, this is not the place.
I wish this restaurant the...
