We went to Crossings kitchen for the first time this weekend and took our 2 little kids. I'd been to this building many times, first when it was Sola cafe cafe, and then more recently when it was Freshies. We were really excited to go to Crossings Kitchen, as it is in our part of town. Plus, it is always great to hear about new choices for coffee shops / breakfast snacks, etc.
Crossings had a couple different areas of the building. One similar to the last business where you can order coffee drinks and snacks etc near the door. If you continue in and to the right there is now a host stand where they have a sit down dining area.
They had biscuits and gravy, many different egg choices, pancakes etc. I got a bobcat breakfast which was a blueberry pancake, eggs, bacon, and homestyle potatoes. I was able to share with our 3 year old. The pancakes were very good and so were the home fried potatoes, eggs, and bacon. I could have used a little larger portion, but I'd say it was pretty average sized. My wife and I each got a mocha and they were very good. By the time you add a flavor or extra shot, they are a little pricey but not that much different then most places in Bozeman.
Prices for entrees were fairly average to a little higher. For 2 breakfast entrees ( a little bit of it wasshared with small children ), and 2 mochas the total without gratuity was $45. The atmosphere is nice.
When we got to our table, the hostess said we could scan a QR code and order from there. This was my only real complaint, as going through the menu, ordering process, etc is a pain in my opinion and something you need to focus your attention on the next 5 minutes staring at your phone as opposed to talking and spending time with your group. We overheard an older couple ask if they could simply order with them. I should have just asked but thought I'd check out the process and system. We'll definitely ask to order with the staff next time. Not that it was a huge hassle, but we'd happily pay for and tip a waiting staff to have more of a "full service" experience.
I have know doubt the food, service, and setup will only continue to improve. We are happy to have a new coffee shop / breakfast and lunch option in our neck of the woods. We'd recommend Crossings Kitchen, and simply wanted to leave our feedback. Looking forward to our next visit! Thanks for bringing a new business to...
Read moreA wonderful place to eat at South Bozeman. Quick service time, friendly staff, pristinely clean. Good coffee and good food that has good flavor without being the usual $20-$25 meal in the Bozeman area for breakfast and lunch.
We have gone twice now and once through the drive thru. The owner is very friendly and proud of this establishment (as is the head chef with decades of experience). He even allowed my daughter to watch how the orange juice was squeezed (a real treat for the kiddos and fun to watch).
Overall, seems like a wonderful business to support, even if just once en route out of town from visiting your college student.
Potential areas of improvement: The first time we were there, we weren't offered a kid's menu. Next time we knew it existed, but if you see kids are at the table, please offer it stating that the menu is on the back of the coloring page.
When we asked for what tea options are available, server had said "your guess is better than mine" and just offered the london fog as the only option, which we assumed as earl grey- some customers may not know what a london fog is and what tea it is. We left ordering without knowing if any other teas were offered besides what was in a london fog.
Thank you...
Read moreBecause this location is on the way to anywhere else in town from my house, I used to be a regular at the Freshies drive thru and was cautiously optimistic about Crossings Kitchen moving into this spot after Freshies closed. Today, I went through there for the first time and ordered my standard basic breakfast sandwich and matcha latte and was really pleased. The ingredients of the breakfast sandwich tasted really fresh and high quality and my matcha latte was perfect. I’m relieved that the replacement for Freshies so far seems as good or better. They were also WAY faster than Freshies was. My only complaint would be that I wish their drive thru was open later so I could get an...
