Let me make this easy for you. Tell your friend, spouse, neighbor, dog, whatever to go grab their keys and you can read them this review on the way to the restaurant so you don’t waste any time. The Hachi sushi pub is in a building with other restaurants. I don’t know what to hit kids call these days but I would say it’s like a grown-up food court ( yeah, I’m old and that’s the reference. I’m gonna use, deal with it.) The cool things about a situation like this is most of the time one or two of the businesses will have bars and luckily for us, Hachi sushi pub and also the restaurant next-door had a full bar. You can take your cocktail after dinner and wander around as long as you stay inside the confines the building, and I believe the outdoor patios, but don’t quote me on that.
Our server gave a great recommendation for a meal. We both started off with miso soup that had a great flavor to it. Usually, you get some water down the seaweed water with tofu, but not this. It was really flavorful. We had the pork dumplings, which would have been great on their own, but they came with a that added an extra kick to them. My wife had the fried rice added chicken along with her Captain Morgan and Diet Coke from the full bar next-door. I have the recommended special K roll and a drink called the elk hunter. After a few more of those elk hunters, I would’ve been up in the hills hunting them by hand. We could’ve spent more time here, but everything was closing up. I’m sad. We only went there once as we were leaving town the next day. I would go back in...
Read moreWe were pretty excited to try this out and the host was super nice in getting us seated quickly. She gave us the menus and explained it was still happy hour. We ordered some items from the happy hour menu and we ordered some rolls from the normal menu. The server was nice and the food was delivered promptly after ordering. The calamari was not what we expected and a little disappointing as the breading was almost a chicken fried style breading instead of a lighter tempura consistency. The rolls were decent and well assembled but the flavor was lacking with some of them. The most disappointing flavor on the rolls was the dollops of what I assume was aioli which were pretty flavorless. At the end we were charged full price for the happy hour menu items. The server claimed that those items weren't on the happy hour at first, but then admitted they were and told me I was just too late getting my order in. I told the person that the hostess had stated it was happy hour and even gave us the menu. We even ordered promptly after the server came to take our order. The server said she would see about knocking some off of the bill but I was really just over the experience and I was disappointed. I've paid over $100 for sushi meals before and it wasn't worth the fight. I was excited to try this place and I felt like...
Read moreI have to give Hachi a two star after two visits. Here are the reasons why….the first visit the food was okay, a lot more expensive than what the quality was. I have tried most other sushi based restaurants and have been consistently happy. Other sushi restaurants/grocery stores in town are the better options comparatively for pricing and quality.
The second time. We ordered two apps, an entree of their special sashimi, and a roll. Our roll was a special roll that fell apart with super soft rice. We explained to our server the problem. It was clear they had went to management and had came back to offer us another roll in replacement…we offered possible dessert. After deciding against dessert we asked for our check where the roll was still charged after saying it would be comped. I ordered another drink after that which then almost equaled our meal with the roll. Then the manager came up and asked about our meal, before actually hearing what the problem was she assumed it was the tabiko we weren’t a fan of. Which I quickly corrected her that I have had tabiko on my rolls and I am more than familiar with it on my roll but like in preference for texture.
Service has been incredible. However, with my food experiences…even after a voucher for a free app or roll. I will not...
