My crew was super excited to try this place after hearing so much about the Jackson location.
Pros: ownership did their best to make the night a success, cheese dip and chips were excellent, food in general was tasty, atmosphere is lively, location works well for us
Cons: the ability to turn tables over, get food out in a timely manner, and provide the restaurant basics STRUGGLED last night. Parking was challenging too. We were added to the list and told it would take 55 minutes for a table. I’d imagine not many locals will wait this long for any meal but we were really excited to test it out and decided to stick it out. After 30 minutes or so the app didn’t update our time so I checked in with staff to be told by ownership the algorithm is still learning and we should be seated soon. Seeing lots of empty tables when we came in and throughout our wait was frustrating. Shortly afterwards, we did get seated and were starving. Wait staff was kind, but really struggled putting chips and salsa on the table. For a table of six waiting an hour, we went through chips fast. Our food orders were taken but took some time to come out. One entree (tacos) came out after the rest of us had nearly finished eating. The restaurant was kind enough to take this amount off our bill but it was a rough scene for the one individual at our table still hungry while the rest of us ate.
Overall: You can tell ownership will likely work out the kinks at some point. Last night was brutal and I think I’ll wait some time before trying Merry Piglets again. Maybe takeout will be a better option until then?
Best of luck training staff, kitchen, and the algorithm! We hope to visit again and will update my...
Read moreI am still in the restaurant and have been for 25 minutes with no service. Went to the front twice with no result. Finally talked to the manager and they got somebody to come serve us. Another table that got seated next to us got a server within a minute or two and the server never looked at us. He brought them water and took orders while we got nothing. This is the worst service I have ever gotten and would have rated it as zero if the system allowed it. We did get all kinds of excuses about servers being overwhelmed and computer system not working right, etc.
We finally ordered and got our food except for the sauce which took another five minutes. The food was really good and will probably come back to get them a second chance
They did give us two free drinks and an appetizer for the inconvenience.
PS - the server we finally got after being seated for half hour was great.
UPDATE: The manager contacted me directly and after some emails refunded my meal cost and provided a gift card. I will definitely return to see if what happened to us was a bad day for the staff or if they still exhibit the same behavior. I would expect that things will be corrected by the time I return to Bozeman...
Read moreRight off the bat I had some issues because they did not having handicap parking near the doors despite there being perfectly positioned parking spots. This caused some difficulties getting my grandpa (who is in a wheelchair) and my dad (who is on crutches) inside. This was especially dangerous for my dad because of how slick the ground was from the snow.
In terms of service our server was really nice and got things out quickly. The complimentary chips and salsa were really yummy and there was plenty of salsa. The house margaritas were small but yummy. Not too sweet which was unique. Though, the water tasted like chlorine which was strange.
Now the food. Among our group there was a mix on how people liked it. Some of the food had a very distinct barbecue sauce flavor which was quite odd. The rice was dry. The beans were alright after mixing them with salsa. According to my dad the fish tacos were good though.
Overall, if you are ever in Bozeman and like TEX-Mex (lots of emphasis on the Tex) then this might be a good option. If you’re expecting anything other than that or have mobility issues I’d...
