Update: This used to be our first choice for a nice night out. Last night changed that. The service at first was prompt but after we finished the meal long stretches of time passed before we ever saw our server again. I ordered the buttered chicken. I would describe the temperature as lukewarm. The sauce was nowhere close to the temperature that it should have been. I typically don't like things piping hot but this should have been embarrassing to the kitchen staff. Our server must have been hiding because we didn't see them until I was done eating my warm food. I only ate 1/2 which is very unusual for me. I usually finish my meals without a problem but this just left a 'blah' feeling. We were seated close to the kitchen windows so we could see the kitchen staff working away at things. Being able to see the guy in the back-middle wipe his hair, and his nose, then repeatedly wiping his hands on his shirt was a little unnerving.
Original Review: Yowsers what a great meal!!! Tanglewood is a wonderful new restaurant that impresed us on our first visit. Beautiful space and we'll designed. If you are into wine then that will be enough to make you fall in love with this place but the full bar will have something to please anybody. The food was fantastic and everything coming out of the kitchen looked delicious. Their namesake burger rocked. Ice cream sandwiches we're amazing but we mixed it with the sorbet but that wasn't the best idea since the sorbet was a subtle flavor and the ice cream sandwiches were a knock you in the face YUM flavor! Great staff. We will be back. Second report: Even better than the first time. Cheese board is awesome. Pork chop is delicious. Chocolate ganache "twix" for dessert is so good. This...
Read moreEvery time I give this place another chance, I leave more disappointed than the last. Service is abysmal. Waiting and waiting and waiting at the bar while staff all walk by and even managers stare at me without asking if I need anything.
I sat and waited for over 10 minutes while the main bartender assigned to me didn’t make eye contact to ask if I wanted to order a drink, then as I finished my glass of water, my time limit to walk out, she came back just in time merely to fill my water since it was empty.
Lobster roll was decent for Montana. Better than most food on their menu, which honestly feels like food in a cheap hotel lobby bar and for the most part continues to go downhill from when they opened. Wine for happy hour and the coupon they sent out with “lobster roll and free 5oz draft wine” is lacking the asterisk that it’s their terrible house white wine, not a choice of any of their draft wines as one would expect with the language used. I asked for a check as I ordered my 5oz wine and they did not bring the check, I even pulled my card out and put it under the empty glass they took away to give the hint again after trying to catch a glance to ask for the check again. Not until I was sitting and waiting to leave for a few minutes did they finally grab my card to close me out. I don’t think they once gave a care or ask about me personally.
Sadly, I will probably end up back there since it is close and someone will invite me, but they really need to improve their quality. Their Blue Collar Restaurant monopoly on the real estate keeps rewarding a downward sliding scale of mediocrity for both service and...
Read moreBrand new restaurant in town in the same building as Nordic. I love the atmosphere of Tanglewood - very relaxed, calm and casual. Tasteful and earthy decor - beautiful light fixtures and I spotted a wooden hutch I would kill to have in my own house. Each table is set meticulously, with paper drink menus, wine glasses, water cups, and silverware wrapped in cloth napkins. Each table gets a complimentary cup of deliciously roasted and seasoned nuts. I ordered the El Vaquero cocktail and my party ordered other cocktails from the menu. The general consensus was that the cocktails were just ok, very bland and not much fluid volume, but I am sure they'll get better with time. I was very impressed with the wine selection. Wine is something Bozeman has been missing but I am happy to see that Tanglewood is changing that! For my entree, I ordered the Tanglewood burger. It came with thin and slightly crisp French fries - just the way I love them! The burger was cooked perfectly (for me, that is medium) and the sauce that came on it was so yummy (I assume it was a home made "fry sauce") They also have a dessert menu, not pictured in my photos. I highly recommend the mini cast iron cookie. It's the perfect size dessert for someone like me who wants dessert but doesn't want to commit to something huge because I'm already full from my entree. I highly recommend giving this...
