So, I write this review with reservations. I gave it a 3 star as quality and taste of the food was offset by poor/rude service. I have been enjoying Basil's probably 3 decades. I have eaten at all locations, including the ones that are no more and now Dunkin Donuts. If I were to judge today's customer service it would be a 1 star. I will qualify, in the past at this location the service has always been over the top. The girl usually recognized me and would ask if I was having my usual. Today I hit the drive through. The young lady (not the one I am used to seeing) was very pleasant during the order. I placed my order, provided my credit card and awaited my order. I did not check my receipt (I know, bad habit) or I would have seen she had missed some of my order. I had ordered quantity of 3 of an item but only 1 showed on receipt. I was not charged for it, so when I got home and noticed, not a big deal. I was ,however, charged for 3 of another item (which I ordered) and only 2 were in the bag. Since I have been going so long I decided to call store to let them know to double check orders. I was not asking for a credit, was not driving back to get missing items, simply a courtesy call. As a business owner, I like to know if there is something we can fix if we make an error. I called and started to explain to the gentleman who answered what had happened, he said I know your order, I am the owner and indicated what the order was (which matched receipt) and said it was not wrong. I explained I had wanted 3 mashed potatoes and only got 1, and I was aware I did not get charged for other 2. He said, I am the owner (2nd time he told me) I made your order and it was right. I said I only have 2 orders of chicken pieces and I ordered 3. He said you got 3. I chose not to argue as his demeaning tone and assertion that I had lost my ability to count was enough drama over a drive through order. So while their food has long been a staple and I have only had positive experiences in the past, it will be a while before I return to this...
Read moreI'm extremely disappointed with Basil's and the service provided especially since Basil's is a well known staple in Bradenton. My pregnant wife ordered food for carry out, I was on the phone with her as she was getting her food. The employees weren't wearing mask or gloves while conducting there day to day business. My wife asked the manager who was servicing her "are you guys wearing mask or gloves at all'? The manager said "no" she said "she didn't want the food thank you" The manager then made a comment to her about being offended cause she didn't want the food. He then began to go back an forth with her about it. I understand that ordering food and not wanting or picking it up is disrespectful. But the under the circumstances going on in the world it's should be ok especially if they aren't doing there part to make there customers fell safe to eat there food. This could be completely bias as well since it is my wife that is pregnant but I fell he was very unprofessional on how he handled it. I also called to speak to the manager which was the him and he said he would be ok if somebody treated his pregnant wife that way under the circumstances (I call BS). I had to give it one star to post this but I wouldn't...
Read moreWe have been to many of the Basil's locations over the past 20 years and really love their food. However, after our last visit just this morning, I can't say we will be visiting the 64 location again. We typically dine later in the evening, but this morning we were there right when they opened at 11AM. I COULD NOT find a clean place to sit and eat! The tables are usually dirty when we dine in the evenings and I always think they were just busy and hadn't had time to clean. Well, today you would think first thing they would be clean because of their nighttime closing and cleaning routine. Apparently they don't have one because the soda area and machines were sticky too! It appears they never mop their floors either! My shoes were so sticky I had to scrape them off outside before I got in my car and you can see the stickiness carrying outside onto the concrete. This got us thinking that if the dining area is this dirty, how clean can the kitchen possibly be? This place needs to be closed for a deep cleaning! Sorry Basil's, but it needs...
