Shep's On 6th — Restaurant in Brainerd

I stumbled into this bar and was immediately struck by its cool and inviting vibe. Maybe it was the dim lighting, or maybe it was the vintage posters and quirky decor, but either way, I was hooked.

Now, I have to admit, I didn't have a lot of time to spend there. I had a busy schedule of sightseeing and napping to attend to. But, in my brief visit, I managed to enjoy a drink or two and soak up the bar's old-school charm.

One thing to keep in mind, this place is strictly cash only. So, be sure to bring some greenbacks, or risk being caught with your digital wallet down. Sadly, they do not accept bitcoin yet. As for me, I had to go find an ATM and scrounge up some bills. Later, I became the ATM for my friends... Hey might be a good way to avoid paying the tab for the night.

But, back to the bar itself. If you're lucky enough to chat up the bartender or a friendly local, ask about the order of the elbow. In short, if you're looking for a cool bar with a unique atmosphere and a touch of tradition, this place is definitely worth checking out. Just be sure to have some cash on hand or a buddy that...

I Hate to leave such a bad review because the owner is a great guy and he knows what he’s doing. But the younger gentlemen who is running his bar for him does not know what he is doing. And on top of that he is very rude. I got denied with my VERY REAL id. I even offered for him to call the police to verify or to run it through his system to see if my id was real which he refused to do so. He embarrassed me in front of a whole bar full of people when I wasn’t confrontational at all I left when he asked after asking what could possibly be wrong with my id. I really feel that this could be a five-star place. Their outdoor seating was nice. Bugs were a little bad but that can't be me. Blamed on the business. However, this was a cash only place.

Now I do understand but they have an ATM on site. However, for those that only carry a credit card to take out $40 cash will cost $30 in fees.

I have no issues with companies charging me to use my card if that is the method I choose to pay.

Otherwise the drinks were cold and good. And the server coming around for a drink orders was friendly.
