Masala Art — Restaurant in Branchburg Township

Visited this restaurant for the first time last night, and was immediately impressed by the laid back but upscale environment. The lighting was dim, the modest interior decorated with actual flower vases and hanging crystal chandeliers which matched the goblets we drank from.

Immediately we were served by Nil, a very polite man who always made sure to top off our water. He arrived just when we needed assistance, and both of the servers were incredibly in tune to our needs as customers.

We ordered the sample platter, mango lassi, goat and chicken curry to share and Nil brought us plates to share from. We ate our fill, although the star of the night was the mango lassi. Never had a better one in my entire life. Not too sweet, served with whipped cream and a cherry drizzle. The goat curry was the best, the spice level can be chosen when you order as well which soothed my sadly bland American palette.

We finished up the night by having some coated fennel seeds for digestion, and our server went a step beyond the ordinary and went so far as to package our to-go package himself! The place is having good Indian non veg . We have ordered goat Rogan josh and mutton biryani along with garlic naan and garlic chilli naan. The curry comes with rice as side and in dessert we ordered fruit custard. I will start my review with there best dish which was mutton Rogan josh for me and there naan are perfect I have never had such a perfect naan anywhere . Now let’s come to not so amazing dish i:e biryani it was more like pulao since we see balls of white rice in it and it felt like everything was cooked in one preparation like we cook pulao and the mutton piece of biryani was little hard too . We recently hired Masala Art team as our caterer for a large Diwali gathering for Holmdel Indian Association. This was a large gathering (almost 365 people) and her team was able to handle this very smoothly. The food quality was excellent from appetizers, main course to desserts. The chicken dish was just out of the world. A gathering of such big size requires extreme amount of coordination, logistics and impeccable execution at multiple levels. Meenakshi and her team went above and beyond to make it a memorable event for all of our guests. We got lots of rave reviews from all of our guests. This was an outdoor gathering with 48-50 degree weather and even with such low temps she and her team were able to serve us warm food. I would highly recommend her team for any large event.
