Ok so I was Looking for a Indian spot to eat !! Love Indian food btw , my fiance and I walked in and first impression was the place was dirty and raggaty , but sometimes you like to try small places like that sometimes are great ,let's start off with when we sat down the first thing I noticed was napkins and the pepper sauce was empty and dirty! So I moved the the container so when she comes she would notice it she came gave us menus and took the paper sauce away . Then I saw the water pitcher was half filled with what looked like old bubbled sink water . God knows how old the water in that was! She brought me a cup with lime that tasted way too bitter with no ice,the water was warm !The server came back and asked what we wanted I got the chicken Tikka masala and my fiance got the curry chicken . We also ordered nann bread garlic and onion ! She brought us our plastic plates !!!!! They were old and faded uggg , she brought our food welll let me tell you , the portion of the rice was in a small soup bowl and the the main dishes where a small measured out salad bowel ! The Tikka masala looked unpleasant tasted like they did t use real cream and the sauce was way to light , bad consistency, the chicken was tender not all the flavors that was supposed to be in tikka masala , I'll give it a 2 because they made the food, the curry chicken was overly spiced for yellow curry, the rice was hard and no flavor . The food was overly priced for what we ate , not to mention theladytherewas rude and not Attentive and we where the only ones there !! When I asked for containers for the left overs that we had to throw away she gave us 1. I asked her question about the price and she had a horrible attitude. The only half descent thing there was the nann. I'll rate the places 1 because I have to give the the star . Never going back there again I'm not Indian but I know good Indian food ! Place...
Read moreZaika Indian Grill is probably one of THE best Indian restaurants in New Jersey! As a former hospitality professional and as "food" fan aka foodie, I have dined at many Indian restaurants located between Bergen County all the way down to Ocean County! This one simply takes the accolade for being the BEST! Last weekend, I ordered a take out for my family as we were celebrating my birthday!! :) The food was ready to be picked up on time. The service was as always, impeccable. And most importantly, the food was absolutely delicious!! Every member of my family, regardless of their age and cuisine preferences, simply loved the food and could not stop raving about it. And, I, personally feel that their food has not only hit the benchmark, but has surpassed the industry standards on taste, spices, quantity and overall quality of their preparations. It is absolutely Brilliant!! My kudos and many thanks to the hardest working husband- wife team and to to their associates for making a great splash in New Jersey, specially in our beautiful Somerset County! Please know that we appreciate your kindness, your hospitality, your humility and most of all...the preparation and presentation of your fantastic artwork in the form of one of the most tedious cuisines to prepare that is able to resoundingly please palates from all walks of life. Job well done! My family and I wish you many Successes, much Happiness and lot's of Goodness! God Bless...
Read moreWhat an understated restaurant!!!
I bet you drove past this gem many times, perhaps picked up a slice a pizza, or maybe even gotten a hair cut.
Is the decor beautiful? nope… or not yet. Besides you can’t eat tablecloths and curtains. Focus on the food, the flavor, and the friendly.
Firstly, unless you have been before and if you can find a seat, have a seat and eat in. The owners will you treat you so kindly and perhaps even bring you a few bites you were not expecting.
I went with a group and we had so many dishes and everything was delicious, veg & non veg. So, let me give you my swan song, get the GOAT SUKKA, GET 2!!! Best Indian food I have had in my life (I know what you’re thinking…no I’m not Indian & no, I have never been to India). Trust me. Everything comes out so hot, when the door behind the hostess/cashier opens you can see🔥 & smell food. The goat sukka is spicy, savory & so umami. It’s not full of bones and is meaty and tender. I wish I had more photos of everything I ate, but I was so surprised and instead focused on filling my stomach.
Don’t expect fancy but expect good. If you are ever presented with a Biryani that looks like this you are in the right place!
Can’t wait to go back. Be nice, be...
