Capone's Pizza Bar — Restaurant in Branford

I have visited this location to eat in the dining room on three different occasions. Sadly, only one of those visits was positive. The first visit, the service was good but the food failed. The pizza had one side that was burnt and tasted like cardboard while the other side was undercooked. The second visit was the best visit with attentive and friendly service, as well as a pizza that was not over or undercooked and tasted very good.

The last visit, which was this past weekend, was awful. The service was basically non-existent. The waitresses were more concerned with moving people around in the dining room than they were with serving the tables. They were making parties sit at one larger table to wait for a smaller table to come open before they would even take their order. This led to other tables being forgotten since our drinks were never refilled and our waitress never checked in. There was a young boy working there, who was working harder than any of the waitresses because all they cared about was moving tables. The pizza was once again burnt on one side and undercooked on the other.

While, I can completely understand trying to maximize the space that you have for those dining in, there should also be a realistic take on going to a restaurant on a Friday or Saturday night for both the restaurant and patron. Reality is you may have to wait or pick a different place if it's too busy.

I always wanted small businesses to succeed and I hope this place does, however I can't say I would rush back after this...

I placed an order for pickup on a Friday night and was beyond shocked to find the massive amounts of people without masks inside the small restaurant, both at the packed tables and drinking at the bar. People were lining the doorways and there was clearly no enforcement of social distancing by the establishment. On top of all this, after waiting 45 minutes to pick up the order, I was told that they didnt have my order, nor did their North Branford location. I chalked it up to maybe I had made a mistake, but when I got back to my car to double check the phone number I had called to place the order, it was, in fact, the Branford Capones phone number I had called. Based on their clear lack of respect for public safety, as well as the lack of responsibility taken for misplacing my order, I will not be ordering from this...

Best pizza in Branford! We dine at Capones frequently or get take out on occasion and have never had a bad meal or pizza! First let me say if you don’t like New Haven style pizza then it’s not for you! It’s perfectly thin, proportioned and charred on the crust! Delicious. Tonight we got a regular pepperoni and the Capones special without mushrooms. My other favorite is the mikes hot honey special. They have cauliflower crust available to order as well. Also ordered the fried dough fingers which you can’t go wrong with. Let me also say, don’t sleep on their meals! My favorite entree is the escarole special.
