I visited Big Jay's because my Mother loves Buffalo Fish & had been getting it from a popular Supermarket, but for the past month or so, they had not been receiving any deliveries. My Mother got her Buffalo Fish every Fri like clock work, but she was being disappointed not being able to get it from her usual place, so I took it upon myself to give Big Jay's a call, because I remembered seeing Buffalo Fish on their website menu. When I called & was told that "Yes" they carried Buffalo Fish, U didn't have to tell me twice. I headed there with her & she was able to purchase her Buffalo Fish & not only that, but we also ordered Sweet Potato Pie, Banana Pudding, & to my Mother's surprise a hard Cinnamon Candy Apple which she had been searching for yrs for, but could only find the Caramel Candy Apples. Big Jay's is now my Mother's Go-To spot for Fried Buffalo Fish, Sweet Potato Pie & Old Fashioned Hard Cinnamon Candy Apples. The food was seasoned perfectly, the portions were plenty, & the prices were extremely reasonable & on top of that the service was A-1. It's Family run & it shows, because they care about giving their customers good, quality service & great food!!!! As long as my Mother is happy & satisfied, that's all that matters to me, so Big Jay's has 5Stars allday...
Read moreI went online to check to see what time they closed. After checking the website, & door which said 8pm. I was happy to see that I arrived at 7:06 pm, Along wt 2 other customers who were 2 steps ahead of me that walked in at the same time as me. Now keep in mind, We were all acknowledged by a guy behind the window (6 mins after waiting on them to service the 3 cars in drivethru.) But what was wierd was, We waited an additional 4 mins, only for the same guy to come to the window to inform us all that they were closed?!? We all were confused?!? He Originally informed us that he would be right with us. Plus, why was the lobby still open?!? But since, I didn't have the energy to complain. I decided to just leave. PLEASE be cautious since they apparently, didn't care about the inconvenience we experienced. AVOID AT ALL COST!!! POPS KITCHEN is right next to them (They are super "FRIENDLY"! Plus, they have a way better MENU+PRICE POINT+CLEANER BUILDING. You can actually watch them prepare your order "FRESH TO GO"!) Sadly, Disappointed on...
Read moreThis was my 1st time eating at this black owned business. Let me just warn you...The parking lot is greatly in need of repair. The potholes right here is equivalent to the ones on Kingshighway, so be careful.
The food is delicious. I got the fish (swai), chicken & shrimp combo & the tripe sandwich (fried med), I forgot to take a pic. My total was $29.
Everything was seasoned just right & everything had its own seasoning. I know y'all have ate at a fish & chicken place & they use the same seasoning on everything. Well not here! I only have 2 complaints. My tripe was too thin & too hard, although I asked for it to be fried medium & I said it twice. Everything else was fried to perfection & not greasy. My second complaint which is really on me but I wish it was posted somewhere...the fish, chicken, & shrimp combo doesn't come with a side & with my 1 combo & 1 sandwich, with no side, that's a little steep.
However, I still gave them 5 stars because the chicken was seasoned to...
