Wally's Drive-In — Restaurant in Breese

I know this place comes highly recommended and wins people's choice votes, but I'll be the odd person out to say I did not enjoy the food here and I don't plan on making the drive to come back. They are supposed to be well known for their burgers, but to me it was nothing special...the meat tasted watery like the meat patty was sitting in a steam table with water, it did not taste freshly grilled at all, bun, and toppings were normal (nothing unique). They were out of all their unique cut fries so we just got regular fries and they were out of something else too. Even the ice cream options were basic. Maybe because it was the off season in the winter they aren't at full operation or something, but I was completely shocked after all the people and locals that have recommended this place. I wish I would have liked this place more, but now I'm wondering if it's just hyped up because it's a small town nostalgic...

We love Wally burgers. They have a great taste. We create a day trip to drive from St. Louis to Breeze for Wally burgers no salt cooked to eat, then then later and onion rings and fountain Ski sodaThen of course we drive across the street to Dairy King for raspberry Chicken Caesar salad and hotfudge Oreo concrete tonight I added cherries. If we have time we would stop by Eckerts. We have been known to get Wally Burgers to go and eat later and have dinner in Lebanon at Mexico Tipico. If we leave early and the weather is warm we will add a drive to Carlyle Lake . We call it the Wally Burgers Trip. Breeze IL is a wonderful town. Our friends have teased us for driving so far for Wally burgers but when they drive and eat there they text us to thank us for the delicious tasty burgers and so yummy onion rings and the opportunity to explore the surrounding areas and create their own Wally...

Wallys drive in use to be the place to go twice a week or anytime in the area, food is good, but the call in is terrible, 3rd time in 3 months I called in an order and they tell you come on up or 10 minutes. They don't cook your food until you get there. Today called in at 110pm told me 10 min. I came up in 15 min. At 125pm and didn't get my food until 147pm. And it wasn't busy at all. Like I said this is the 3rd strike they done this. And I know local people are also complaining about this, I know a young lady that works there, and I was told this is the way they do. Wallys you were once great. But I won't be back because of this, I will miss the food. But Dairy King...
