Knotty Pine Inn & Motel — Restaurant in Breese

I was skeptical about staying at the Knotty Pine due to many questionable reviews. We did stay over on Fathers Day weekend June 14 & 15 2025 to visit family in Breese and golf all week end. We asked to see our room before check in and discovered it would not work for our needs (2 people). We needed more space due to C Pap equipment and we are elderly. We discussed our concerns with the manager and she changed our arrangements. I was very pleased with the cleanliness of our room, ample towels and blankets and best of all could easily adjust the room temperature to our liking. We had a quiet and peaceful time. However if you need a hairdryer pack one in your bag if you will need one. The manager was so kind and understanding and made our visit most pleasant. The TV has lots of channels to choose from, much more than the Hampton Inn in Effingham which was very limited. We will definitely seat there again, it’ll be like...

I had the burger and my wife had the gizzards. I was told the burger was a bit small so I doubled it and made it "fancy", which just added some veggies. They charged $0.30 extra but who cares as the burger only starts at about $2.50. And what an excellent burger it was. Salty, cheesy, greasy but not excessively, tasty patty that was not overcooked, simple bun, and fresh veggies (I hate pickles so don't know about those). Excellent, classic burger at an excellent price. The only reason I'm giving it a very good instead of an excellent is because of my wife's gizzards. At $6.50 for a basket of ok gizzards, I was disappointed. Simple bar with a nice atmosphere. Very nice, attentive waitress but wasn't sure about a few questions we asked about menu items. Well worth stopping here to have a burger and a couple beers...

We arrived and did not know where to look for the restaurant. All we saw the sign for the office and the budweiser sign. We found the main door and walked into a narrow dimly lit hallway where we found the sign with the specials and 2 doors....had to guess which door to go in...we walked in and there was 1 person behind the bar and 1 person waiting on the incredibly small, busy dining room. The waitress came to take our order. My husband ordered a soda and they brought him a can and a glass of ice. Although the food was inexpensive, we found it bland. There were people who came in after we had ordered and they had their food before we got ours. We had burgers and fries. Menu had a good selection. Decor was lacking.
