I have been searching for a new taco joint ever since La Fajita Grill in Tinley Park was taxed out of existence.
I recently placed a take-out order from Los Sarapes after reading the positive reviews on Google. I have an unusually high standard for my tacos, but this place was more than acceptable.
I placed my usual test order I use to judge all Mexican restaurants: Steak tacos, beef tacos, and al pastor tacos, in corn tortillas, with onion, cilantro, and cheese.
The onion and cilantro were very fresh, and there were no stems from the cilantro, just leaves. Unfortunately, it was not plentiful, so I plan to order extra next time.
The corn shells were extremely soft, almost mushy. Much better than restaurants that serve dried-out corn shells.
The steak meat didn't have a strong flavor, but was quite tender. The ground beef meat was plentiful with a great flavor. The al pastor meat was a somewhat odd red color and had a strong seasoning which was't unpleasant, though I think they may have been better without the seasoning.
The red and green sauces were among the best I've had, but not THE best. The flavors were bold and both sauces had a pleasant, mild bite. I received more than enough of both sauces.
I generally consume 2-3 tacos before becoming full, but it took 4 from Los Sarapes.
In summation, this is probably 2nd or 3rd best place for tacos currently in existence in the south and...
Read moreThis place sucks. I ordered a tray of tacos with the toppings on the side because I'm feeding kids and they are picky. I have gotten this before no problem. I got home and the toppings were all on the tacos. I called and told them they messed up the order, they hung up the phone. I called back and asked them to fix it and was told sorry too bad. They would not fix it, hung up. I called back and asked to speak to the owner or Manger, neither in the place really on Cinco de Mayo I want to bring good the tray back and get food from where else but I don't think I'll get my $33 back. We are never getting food from them again! I had to give 1 star to post. They...
Read moreAt $2.75 each, I ordered 6 steak tacos after trying 3 from a $2 steak taco place on 127th and pulaski. Just trying to find out the closest best tacos if the wife craves them. The tortillas are so oily that you can wrench the oil out. The meat was seasoned good enough. The fat . . . oh my god, was too much and squishy. I hate fat. I cannot eat these with enjoyable bites. Not enough cilantro and they give you an big chunk of tomato instead of dicing it up. Wife is not happy. I am not happy. Should've went back to Burrito Alegre. Their $2 steak tacos are out doing all other $2 steak tacos nearby as well higher priced steak tacos. I only had one piece...
