Updated Review: About 10 months ago, we did one of our runs (40+ minutes away mind you) for a huge run from our favorite Chinese food restaurant. This was a family run for 4 people and as soon as we began to unpack the food, a sense of dread overcame us all. As we opened container after container, our hearts sunk lower into our chest. Every single item looked 100% different from the food we had been eating for over a decade. We pasted on some falsely hopeful smiles as we piled out plates with food. We honestly tried to give it a chance. Unfortunately, even our best efforts could not disguise how terrible the food was. This wasn’t even the type of bad that comes from expecting one thing and receiving another. This was bad bad. This was bad enough to never recommend Number 1 Chop Suey ever again. We are still lamenting to this day how much we miss what is no more from this place. But if you are reading this thinking, maybe I should try someplace new? Don’t do it. We are still searching for local Chinese food to take the place of Number 1 Chop Suey in our hearts. I still don’t see an end in sight…
Previous Review: We have been eating here for years and has never disappointed we drive 40 minutes out of our way now definitely worth it.
(Photo Attached: A plate from our last trip. The chicken wings had no flavor, along with the singapore chow mein and the fried rice. The eggrolls tasted really odd and the potstickers were not also just really not good. Not even just because they changed the type - from the small pan-fried ones to the doughy steamed ones- but I just remember they tasted weird. And I used to live on their potsticker sauce, which is now, of...
Read moreWe always go back and give this place a try. We've been going here for years. The food has been going down. The beef and broccoli is way different than the previous management. The beef has the consistency of gelatin; and huge pieces of broccoli plus other veggies that aren't listed on the menu. Also, every time there's so little beef in a large it's just not worth it. Plus they only give you one container of white rice. If two people get a large and you're sharing with others there's not enough rice to go around or even to have left overs with. Every section says "with steamed rice or etc". So it's my understanding that if you order dishes from different sections of the menu you will get a side of steamed rice with it. I feel like the only thing that is consistently good is the fried rice. On top of it all the price just keeps going up and up for this restaurant. 3 dinners is over 50 bucks. If I wanted to spend this much I would go back to McDonalds, at least there I get drinks with my meals. The service here is always great and everyone is always so friendly. I'm not bashing the establishment by any means. I just want people aware of the increased prices and the changes...
Read moreThis #1 Chop Suey location has been my absolute favorite restaurant for the last 15 years. It was my family's go-to restaurant for big events and my birthday. I ordered my usual on Jan 7th, 2024 and it was incredible. I ordered my usual again March 17th, 2024 and it was really, really not great. I had heard/read that this location was under new management and saw the bad reviews but kept an open mind and am sad to say I am throwing away my menus. My normal garlic chicken is now super spicy and icky and the chicken lo mein doesn't even use the same noodles. Unless they go back to the old recipes, I will not be coming back. I don't generally write bad reviews but I think it's sad that the new management bought a perfect restaurant and turned it into trash. RIP #1 Chop Suey. You will...
