I recently tried Big Joe’s Sandwich Shop after seeing a lot of positive feedback. Unfortunately, my experience was a bit more lackluster. The workers weren’t exactly friendly or speedy, and when I arrived I wasn’t even sure they were open. The open sign was off, and there was no one visible behind the counter. While double-checking the hours of operation, someone eventually came out of the back so I went in. I thought maybe they were late to open despite me showing up over an hour after their posted opening time, but there were several customers inside off in the side room. As for the food, it continued the mediocre experience. It wasn’t bad, but it definitely wasn’t great and when I’m paying $20 for just a sandwich, I expect something a little more top notch. The amount of toppings were decent, but there was no seasoning or flavor to anything. Overall, it’s not bad enough that I would never return, but at the prices they charge, it definitely isn’t good enough to get me to rush back. Maybe it was an off day, but I don’t plan to gamble an eating out opportunity or my money on this place again anytime soon.

Update to my below review: After going back and ordering a different sandwich (the Spicy Philly) I was not disappointed. Everything was better about it- looks, flavor, and having leftovers 🙂 (see photo below). So when I go back in I definitely know what to order. Pror review: After reading some reviews and looking at some photos of the sandwiches I wanted to give it a shot today. Maybe the photos were of family and friends who got the meat stacked high or a different cook or something but if you look at both halves of the inside of my pulled pork sandwich it's primarily bread/a little slaw/BBQ sauce/minimal meat. I feel like I basically paid $18 bucks for a small loaf of bread and a small amount of fried pork (again it may have been the cooks first day or that the meat is outsourced no idea). I would give it a second chance as I think the place has upside but this time i would have been better off saving money as it wasn't worth it.

First and foremost the food was absolutely delicious. I love sandwiches, but nothing is worse than getting a bad one and you do not have to worry about that here. The bread they use is so soft but doesn’t immediately get soggy and fall apart. They have a red pepper mustard aioli that I can not recommend enough! It takes their already amazing turkey sandwich to another level. I also love when a business is friendly with my children. I had my four year old with me and he was so excited to order his own sandwich and normally he is very shy and hides behind me. He totally felt welcomed in the shop and included. He left saying bye and see ya later so he also approves. All in all it was a great experience, just like the last time.

I SO wanted to give these guys a 5 star review. I planned on going after reading reviews. I drove way out of my way and brought family with me. I write this review in hopes that they'll see this and make some changes to earn the highest reviews. The place is simply tiny, tiny and crammed full. I'd remove the partial wall between the counter and the seating. Its just more space being taken up that you can't afford. The red painted counter is dirty and the paint is actually sticky/tacky feeling. Huge ick. The bathroom is weird but I get it. At least you have a public restroom. Get rid of the TV's. It's loud and obnoxiously distracting. Get real AC. it was not cool in there today. Muggy, sweaty, loud, and slooooooow. We ordered 3 sandwiches. All the ingredients are precut and in a case like every other sandwich shop. It shouldn't take an hour to receive two sandwiches and an additional half hour for the third. We did not customize anything. They were advertised on the wall. There was only two tables of two other customers present. There was approximately three walk inside while we waited. They were all served before we received our food. The guy taking orders wasn't friendly, made no suggestions, and did not add to the experience overall. The other staff didn't speak or even look up. This place has better sandwiches than subway. They're 14 and 18 bucks. The 18 dollar full sub is man sized for sure. They only have canned, high sugar drink options and water. The side is chips, and that's it. You guys are so close to being great. With a few tweaks, you'll knock it out of the park! I look forward to trying again another time and being impressed. *Response to the owner. Thanks for showing your customers and potential customers how much you appreciate constructive feedback. Your sarcasm and lack of accountability show exactly how much you are willing to better your customer experience. So, it's safe to say, you won't improve. Good luck with your business. PS After leaving due to getting my food after the rest of my family, I took my food home. Your Banh Mi sandwich was disgusting, lacking flavor,...

I hate giving bad reviews but decided to give this place a try and was not impressed, upon arrival its a single guy working, i dont know if it's like that all the time but i went in around 4, i had to wait for the guy to completely finish making the sandwiches he was already working on before he was able to take my order, no offence to him he was working hard, but I was on a break between shifts and didn't have much time so almost had to leave and go somewhere else, it took about 30 mins to get the sandwich in total. I really wanted to try the philly cheeseteak only went because it was sunday i read all the rave reviews and noahs ark was closed, 20 dollars for the sandwich which wasn't a terrible deal until I got the sandwich it looks huge because it's about a footlong but the actual contents of the sub left me very disappointed, i was still hungry after finishing it, and im not a big guy, there was hardly any meat in it, but thats not the biggest problem, the problem is that the meat had absolutely no flavor whatsoever, don't know if maybe he just forgot the spices, the bread was good, but the meat to bread ratio was completely off, would've rather had less bread and more meat, it felt like i got the half amount of meat but on. A full slice of bread, overall just wasn't very tasty or flavorful, and not a good value...
