Biryani Pot — Restaurant in Brentwood

While visiting my cousin in California, we decided to try out the newly opened Brentwood Biryani Pot and placed an order for butter chicken, chicken biryani, mutton biryani, and vegetable biryani.

I specifically requested the food to be made mild, which the owner kindly agreed to. The butter chicken was good and creamy, but it lacked the traditional preparation where the chicken is roasted before being added to the cream, which would have enhanced the flavor.

The vegetable biryani was quite disappointing—it lacked variety, with barely any vegetables except for carrots. A little green would have made it more appealing. The mutton biryani was decent but slightly dry; I might consider ordering it again. However, the chicken biryani was a letdown—the chicken was tasteless and dry, which took away from the overall experience.

We stopped over while traveling to Reno from Santa Cruz. Food was excellent. We had the butter chicken, tandoori chicken, and samosas. Everything had some spice to it, but reading the other reviews I don't understand people who go to an Indian restaurant and don't expect some level of spice. I eat out at Indian restaurants often and thought the spice level was normal. For context my 2 year old daughter handled it fine. The restaurant was also exceptionally clean, including the restrooms, which I appreciate. Final note it was all very reasonably priced. This place was hit and miss, but lately it’s been BAD. After trying it 4-5 times now we won’t be back. The sauces have been watered down with zero flavor. We’ve even received the wrong chicken dish labeled as the correct one (butter chicken is not chicken tikka masala.) The dishes also have NOT full (we order takeout).
