Flies on pastries and declining service:
Iâm going to be honest: Iâve been coming to this Peetâs for over six yearsâwhether to relax or get work done. Iâve always appreciated the longtime baristas, whom are true professionals and genuinely kind people. Iâm touched they still remember my name after all this time. Even when I lived elsewhere, whenever I returned to Antioch, I always made a point to stop here. Thatâs how much this place has meant to me.
But after my visit today, Iâm seeing a clear decline in customer service over the past few months. Iâve noticed that afternoons tend to have newer or less experienced staff, but todayâs visit (around 2:15pm on 7/3/25) was unusually frustrating. The two young women working were disengagedâone was chatting with a customer (or friend?) and then continued talking with a co-worker. The other seemed largely absent, occasionally stepping up to take an order. When a customer politely commented on the slowness, one of the baristas replied something along the lines of, âIâll have my co-worker make your drink when sheâs done.â That just shouldnât be the standard.
The phone also kept ringing and ringing, but the barista was too busy....talking. She finally told the man she was talking with at length about she "guesses she should answer that" (to paraphrase). The other barista was no where to be seen during this until she realized patrons were waiting, she came out from the back.
I did receive an under-the-breath apology for the wait, but honestly, it wasnât the delay that bothered meâit was the reason for it.
(Also, not to nitpick, but I wasnât fully confident about the cleanliness of the blender.)
I get that the A-team usually works the morning shifts, and yes, itâs slower in the afternoonsâbut that doesnât excuse inattentiveness or poor service. As someone whoâs spent both time and money here regularly, I left today feeling genuinely disappointed.
Also: the AC doesnât need to be blasting that hard, even in summer. And I say that as someone who hates being hot!
Finally, a long-standing issue that really needs addressing: flies on the pastries. This has been a problem for years. The Peetâs I frequented in LA had a clear cover over the pastry case. This location really needs to implement something similar for basic sanitation.
Iâm not saying Iâll stop drinking Peetâs coffee altogetherâbut Iâm seriously reconsidering spending extended time at this particular location...

For some reason the two women making coffee this time around need to find another profession. Very cold, unprofessional and looking tired from carrying funky attitudes. They were just yelling out drinks...no names. They had everyone waiting looking confused on who's drink was who's. The one with glasses and redish pink stripes in her hair was the worst. I picked up my pumpkin latte and drank some. It did not taste right at all. I went up nicely to the nice guy by register and told him I didn't think it was my drink. I told him I wanted a pumpkin spice latte with oat milk and it didn't taste right nor was I sure it was the right drink since they were just yelling out names. As I was speaking the skinny rude one next to him stated...this is not Starbucks so ours isn't made the same. I picked up her snarky frustrated attitude and I just waited patiently for the guy to fix the issue. Lol...I guess that's why your so angry cause any logical person would know that Starbucks and Peets coffee are different and prepared differently. But I guess when you are upset with your sad unexciting life you would make an ignorant statement like that. As I waited for my coffee to be corrected the out of fashion hair monger with her pink and red dried out hair yelled...pumpkin latte with oat milk...again there are 5 people there...was that my corrected drink or someone elses drink that ordered before me?!?!? She yelled a second time so I assumed it was mine. I left without an apology or thank you. I was very calm and did not say one word because if I did it would have been an issue. I normally don't write reviews on public forums but this place has lost my business. Good job ladies! Your stank attitudes that are a reflection of your misrable lives has lost a customer. Congrats!!!! I will make sure I advise my fellow workers, friends and family that this place is not the one. On July 7/20/24 at 10:33am Order 20064 I placed my order and waited 30 min for my order. I stood up 3 different times to check for my order. It was busy, and I was trying not to pressure them for my two drinks. 30 minutes later, I asked for them, and they told me that my drinks were there the entire time. I asked to speak to the manager, and a barista named Alex came. She told me that she called for my order multiple and different times... Let me assure you, SHE DIDN'T!!! I asked her to remake my drinks. "I don't like my drinks melted." She refused to make them ( I asked her about 5 times ), and she refused. She went to the back and had me waiting for an extra 5 minutes. Another person came out, and she claimed to be in charge (I ask for the manager from the beginning, who was Alex than). When I asked to speak to the manager, that's who I wanted to speak to ( not a person impersonating the manager). When Bri ( the person claiming was in charge) came out with a full arrogant attitude, interrupted me when I was explaining (she didn't care for what I had to say) she told me Alex had informed her of the entire situation. She didn't solve anything for me. Well, let me explain something. I have worked in retail and customer service for the last 18 years. Issue could easily be solved by remaking my drinks ( I waited 30 minutes). My time is valuable and very important. 2. The attitude from the stuff is absolutely unacceptable, and it's a disgrace that you have people like them working for a great company like Peets. Employees like them derogate your brand, and you will loose costumers for that...
