Probably passed Mike’s Crumb Cake Factory for years without even knowing it. It’s unassuming presence in an obscure mini mall on 88 in Brick, NJ keeps it hidden in plain sight. The inside is simplistic and one would never expect it to be filled with the most delicious variations of crumb cake I’ve ever come across. I think Mike would make any type of crumb cake you can think of, because the list seemed endless. Obviously the crumb is the main attraction, but I think the real star of this culinary show is the cake. It’s so light and fluffy. I don’t know how it can even support the crumb on top because it’s that light. There are so many flavors to choose from and I enjoyed every single one that I tried. The chocolate peanut butter is chocolate cake with crumb on top. Absolutely outstanding! Mike’s creativity with crumb is epic! This place is...
Read moreIt’s a great concept, but I’m not understanding why the crumb cakes don’t automatically have powdered sugar on the crumb section. I appreciate that they offer gluten-free options. I tried a gluten-free vanilla crumb cake. The cake portion was great, but the crumb section was very dry, and it seemed like it was missing something. Suddenly, I realized it was the powdered sugar. I also don’t understand the way the product is displayed In the store. As another reviewer mentioned, the crumb cakes are all in plastic containers on the counters and tables, and nothing appears to be freshly made. I really have had much better crumb cake from ordinary bakeries. You’re just not getting what you would expect from a place that is specializing...

Preferred the vanilla over the cinnamon because it was moist and softer to cut.
I'd recommend also letting the slices warm up for awhile after buying (like, an hour when you get home) since they're very cold from the store - even the ones just sitting on the table.
I love the crumb topping on crumb cakes but found this one way too thick (on all of them). The cake bottom feels like an afterthought.
These 2 slices also came out to ~$13, not that cheap tbh.
But I give Mike 4 *s - esp for finding a passion in something other than...
