My wife and I had tried this Mantoloking breakfast establishment last month and liked it so much that we decided to try it again this morning. We won’t be back.
The restaurant was quiet (we got there about 7:40) and we ordered our breakfasts. Two OJ’s, two coffees, a cheese omelette for my wife and a shrimp avocado omelette for me. The entrees came out quickly. So far, so good.
My wife’s omelet was bland and my shrimp omelet barely had any shrimp (if any) in it. Neither was inedible but certainly not worth what we paid. The worst was yet to come.
Our server, a blond woman, totally lost track of our table as she got lost discussing her Atlantic City preferences for hotels and gambling, to the point that people that came in after us were served and gone before we were. It was now 8:30, and the restaurant still was dead. She began talking to another couple that were apparently regulars and continued to completely ignore us! By now I had been intermittently waving my debit card and receipt towards anyone who would look our way. No one was looking.
When I finally got her attention, she handed us off to another girl to process the check. The restaurant has a sign up that says they charge a 3% surcharge on credit card transactions but not debit cards. I made a point to tell this girl that, and they STILL charged me the 3%! Now truthfully, I could care less about the $1.50, but when I pointed this out to the girl she said “I can’t control the machine.” No, but you shouldn’t have a sign up stating that either. When I mentioned that, she was silent.
We drove 25 minutes to eat there. We won’t be doing it again. And frankly, I now wonder how they have a 4.7 Google rating with the experience my...
Read moreIn the past I would’ve given this café a really good review because the food is pretty good. I wouldn’t say they are the best pancakes but they are OK. I asked for grits with an egg on top. I would say they put a half a cup of grits in a flat plate with the eggs. In the past, they gave it to me in a bowl I was really sad when I seen the tiny amount of grits in a flat plate. The sausage is very good there and the people are very nice. I don’t know why but the whole breakfast was very expensive just the two of us and I think it was close to $50. All we did get was coffee water and a chocolate milk to drink. I know things are expensive, but it seems their prices also went up from the last time...
Read moreI was disappointed. I ordered the cheeseburger omelette which my son liked, the alien pancakes for kids that looked nothing like an alien or anything for that matter so my little guy was disappointed, and I ordered myself the sausage gravy over biscuits. The sausage over biscuits you had to pay extra to have sausage patties thrown on top. I figured the gravy would have pieces of sausage in it, which it didn't. I've never been to a place that had plain gravy like that. I have no idea how my order was $40 for these things. I will not come here again. I always drove by and saw it crowded so I figured it would be a great place and the menu looks amazing, but my experience...
