I am not someone to make a public review against a small business but last night's experience was so bad, I had to. I ordered from Gyro Kingdom last night for the hubs and I. He had never had them before and I was craving them after receiving the flyer in the mail. I've been eating gyro's for 40+ years so I'm familiar with what they should look & taste like. I was so excited when we receive our order last night, I couldn't wait to dive in. We ordered 2 pork gyro's, 1 side of fries and baklava. From the first bite, I knew it wasn't going to get any better. The tomatoes in it were not fully ripe so they were hard and partially green in the center. There were pieces of cucumber throughout. Not sure if it was pickles or just cucumber but the pickle taste was overwhelming. I love pickles but I have never had pickles in my gyro. The meat was horrendously dry. It did not resemble meat that would be cut from a rotisserie. It was chopped. Dry & tasteless. The ONLY thing that gave the meat any flavor were the pickles. If not for the pickle flavor, it would have had no taste. Everything about that gyro was nauseating. I had 3 bites and threw it out. My husband only ate 1/2 of his and threw it out. That's telling you something because my husband eats just about anything. The french fries were greasy. The baklava wasn't even that great. How can you mess up baklava? The worse part. This place is overpriced. For those 4 items it was over $50. I wish I had read the reviews before ordering. If you are reading this review before ordering and you're on the fence, trust me when I say save your money & find another place. This place does have positive reviews but the quality of the food we received last night, I bet it was relatives or friends that wrote those reviews although I do not have firsthand knowledge if that's the case. Never again. One of the worst restaurants in Brick in our opinion. I'm going to take my husband out next weekend so we can get authentic gyro's somewhere. By the way, before anybody tries to discredit me because I did read the owner responds to reviews. Above I mentioned eating gyro's for over 40 years. Although I have never cooked gyro's before, I am a pretty darn good cook and baker so I know what makes for a good meal and I know what makes it not so good. Save your hard earned cash and go elsewhere. You've...
Read moreSo, I purchased 2 vouchers from CLIPP, formerly known as Local Flavor, as I LOVE Greek food and was excited to see a new place nearby. I tried out Gyro Kingdom and I enjoyed the food and used my CLIPP voucher without any issues my first time. Very happy to find a new good spot.
I Havenât had an opportunity to get back since then (typical busy life gets in the way) and noticed my second voucher was going to expire today. So I took a ride with my daughter to use the second voucher this evening, as well as introducing her to Gyro Kingdom, and upon ordering, when I presented the CLIPP voucher, the girl behind the counter stated âWe donât take them anymoreâ. I advised her that I utilized one prior and both were purchased on the same day, so I asked her to honor it. She then got the owner from the kitchen and he too advised me that he no longer does business with CLIPP and refused to honor the voucher. After a short conversation with him, he ultimately advised me that he would not honor the voucher. Moreover, he told me to contact CLIPP, request a refund and if they didnât make good on it to come back and he would make good. Bad move, bad business in my opinion.
Let me preface this by saying the food is excellent, but my issue is being turned away. How do you let a customer walk out? I Drove there from out of town to be told I could request a refund. Itâs a $20 voucher. And if youâre willing to make good on it if CLIPP doesnât refund me, then why not just make good on it now, and keep a customer? Iâm supposed to drive back there again and ask you to make on good on something I purchased correctly?!!? Shame, cause although the food is good, based on principle I wonât be back. Long term, honoring the $20 voucher would have paid dividends as I would have been a loyal customer. In this economy you should be trying to keep customers, and my request to honor the $20 voucher was extremely reasonable. Best wishes, your food is great, but I feel you made a bad decision...
Read moreI've rarely leave reviews but my experience here was so bad that I need to document it. I saw the restaurant was coming about a week prior and I was excited to have a new option in the area and I was telling people about it. I placed an online order and arrived at the pickup time. It appeared busy with people milling about and seated without food so it wasn't a big deal that the order wasn't ready, I was willing to wait. The place was complete chaos behind the counter. Platters, dishes, take out containers all over the place. It seems orders aren't getting from where they're being taken to where they're being prepared even though it's literally only 5 feet apart. The DJ playing at ear splitting volume didn't help matters. I finally speak to someone and my order is now being assembled by two different people seemingly unaware the other is also working on the order. They start haphazardly throwing containers into plastics bags and hand it across the counter to me. It looks like it's about the right amount of containers so I take it and go. I get home not 5 minutes later and it's all cold. The rotisserie chicken it's refrigerator cold and the gyro platter is "sitting out for an hour" cold. The sauce is splattered all over the container, none of the toppings or sides were included. The roasted veggies were slop and the fries were undercooked and soggy. There was an unidentifiable item that im sure I didn't order. I called several times and there was no answer. We threw all the food out as we weren't sure it was safe to eat. $50+ worth. I wasn't sure the people running this place had the ability to make this right so there was no sense in trying anymore. I hate to give a 1 to a new business but the experience was so terrible I...
