This place has been around since the 70's, and yhe decor reflects it. The steaks are, in a word, horrible. Dont come for that. Come for the salad bar, which is one of the best ive seen and it includes dessert and soup and pasta. The entree prices are fair, but where they kill you is the ancillaries. $2.69 for fried onions? Or mushrooms? Or corn on the cob? $3.59 for a piece of cake? And get this; in the world of bottomless sodas from chilis, outback, etc these guys have NO FREE REFILLS! Ridiculous! Heres how you eat here inexpensively: order the number four beef patty as all the numbers items come with the salad bar included. Did not get any other ancillary do not even get soda get water. Your bill with tax will be approximately 10 bucks per person and you'll be able to stuff yourself at the salad bar and the other pasta and soup bars as well as the dessert bar otherwise with the ancillary you're easily doubling the bill for soda dessert corn on the cob etcetera. If you do as I say this place is a tremendous value, you can give the beef patty to the dog if you'd like but you can have the baked potato and garlic bread that comes with it. If you don't do as I say you might as well go eat somewhere else for better...
Read moreI thought this place was going to be IHOP quality at least but I was extremely disappointed with the overall experience and it is a shame because this place has a lot of potential.
The menu is a collage of about 20 dishes above the ordering post. Then they have some things to pick and choose at the counter as you make your way to the register. Items like salad, slices of cake, corn on a cob and drinks. Then you pay and they bring the food to your table alas Chuck e' Cheese.
The table didn't feel clean. My child had to use the restroom and the restroom was dirty. For such a large place, with so many tables, I was expecting a much larger bathroom but it only had 1 sink, 1 urinal and 1 toilet stall...and they can't keep it clean? The food was horrible. I was afraid other dishes were going to be too salty so I "played it safe" by ordering stuffed fish, what was I thinking? It wasn't salty but it didn't taste like anything either. My wife didn't like her steak and even my 6 year old son didn't eat his hot dog.
Because of all this I am only giving them 2 stars. The silver lining was a couple of workers, they were very friendly and profeasional.
This place can do so...
Read moreWe had a long drive back to Rhode Island and decided to stop by American Steakhouse in Bridgeport, CT to grab a bite before heading back. This place is disgusting, The food is TASTELESS, very small portions, the utensils were DIRTY and had some stuck on particles, even the salad plate had some leftover residue on it (possibly butter). We wanted coffee but even the coffee cups were gross! After seeing stained coffee cups and residue we didn't even order the coffee anymore. The bathrooms are disgusting, tissue all over the floors. The staff couldn't get our order right even though they repeated it back to us twice. The staff members also had nasty attitudes from the cashiers to the cooks. The salad bar could use a lot of help even though they have variety. The atmosphere is lame and not welcoming at all. This place is supposedly known for the "best steak in town", DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE. GO to IHOP or Outback Steakhouse instead, your money will be better spent at those...
