The Famous 50s Diner in Bridgeport, CT rolled out an absolutely gut busting burger challenge with few victors to its name. This challenge features a gauntlet of 6 unique and signature burgers, a large side of fries (I opted for sweet potato fries), and a house-made milkshake (chocolate PB in my case😋). Completing this entire spread in under 25 mins earns you the meal for free, 100 dollars in cash, and a commemorative t-shirt. Failure results in a $100 sized deficit in your wallet 😥. Only defeated by professional eaters Dan Kennedy and Molly Schuyler, I know I had my work cut out for me. My bud Basketlockerball took the long trip down all the way down to tackle this one alongside me. Having him there working on the challenge at the same time definitely alleviated my anticipatory anxiety and kept me motivated as I plowed through the beastly bolus of beef. After much munching, I cleared my platter and milkshake glass in an even 22:20 earning me all the prizes and a complimentary dessert, in the form of a second milkshake, this time blueberry 🫐🥤.
Huge thank you to Pedro and his son at Famous 50s for not only cooking up such an amazing spread and unique burgers and milkshakes, but for welcoming us like family and treating us to a great hang 🤘🏿😎. You...
Read moreI stopped off the highway looking for a place to eat and found this place. I came in an hour before close and welcomed and given fresh cooked to order food and the menu was HUGE and had everything from breakfast to burgers to Spanish rice and Tacos and seafood. I got the nachos and they were delicious and a good size portion I was able to snack on in the car while driving the rest of my trip home. Definitely keeping this one on my stop in on my next trip to Massachusetts. The place was family owned and my waiter was friendly and super helpful with offering his likes and showing their menu of smoothies and shakes every flavor you can think of all made with a blender and ice cream no liquid cream and ice with a syrup. The Orange Cream is Vanilla Orange juice and milk with whip cream. 4 tables came in after me and even with the closing hour approaching quickly each table was taken care of and always had a smile. I work as a bartender on the Jersey Shore and the closer it gets to closing time the less you want new people to come in. This was not the case with my server and you could tell he...
Read moreI have went to this diner a year old, and it was ok when I went the first time with family. Reason why I giving it a 1 star now is more with the recent visit me and my grandpa did to eat here. They took around an hour to take our orders, let alone drinks. We had to call to one of the servers to get our order. When I was trying to order certain items on the menu they didn't have it nor have certain items to make it, where they was trying to get me to eat certain things I already had said no thank you too. After going through 3 menu options I was opened to eat and landing on a 4th one finally they took our orders. We waited another hour, where people who came after us received their orders quickly then me and my grandpa table. So we got up pay for the orders, that's it. It was odd that they didn't want to serve me and my grandpa table since we were the only ones in the place to have a black person, and someone of mixed race at our table whereas everyone else wasn't black. So long story short poor treatment to us and definitely is in the mindset of the 50s, wouldn't eat here even if the...
